Mangini wants Favre as special instructor with the Browns

Will Brett Favre reconsider his retirement to join his old coach, Eric Mangini, with the Browns?

That's unlikely. But Mangini said he wants Favre to attend training camp with Cleveland as a tutor to the team's quaterbacks.

"He might come out to training camp to visit," Mangini, fired as Jets coach after last season, told the New York Daily News. "Maybe I will have him do the show team or just hang out."

Mangini said Tuesday he is opening up a quarterback competition for Browns signal callers Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn.

"I don't think it would be anything formal," Mangini said of Favre's potential attendance. "It's not like we are hiring him to run the scout team. I don't think he would be interested in that. He would be more like a visitor. An open invite."

Wow this is a total 360 from the reports about Mangini hating Farve. I mean Farve basically cost him his job in NY so this says a lot about his character if he would bring him in shortly after how the Jets season ended.

Just heard this on the news about 5-10 minutes ago and was pretty surprised....

I figure if we are going to be a bad team why not bring him on as a qb, trade da and sit Brady till next year.

I think that would be a really good thing to do. He could help DA and Quinn a lot and could imo help DA out to the point where he could be a pretty good QB. Im all for it.

Don't be a smartass, you know he meant to say 720...

From a coaching standpoint, I don't believe Mangini wanted Favre on his team. I don't think Mangini ever disliked Favre personally though. It's not like Favre is coming into compete or to coach. Most of the greatest players of all time couldn't even begin to explain how they did what they did. For an iron-man/future HOF player like Favre to come into camp would only be inspiring.

Looks like DA will be the starting QB then.... IMO

1.] Favre
2] Quinn
3] Anderception

I'll hang myself

Only in your (wet) dreams.

Good, but does DA really need extra instruction on how to throw poorly timed interceptions?

This is all well and good but what exactly is Carl Smith's job?

And who is the WR coach?

as long as he doesn't play it's fine with me, but then again, i would like the daily 30 minute attributes to the browns and brett favre on sportscenter
