4-2 over Cryami

That's as far as I'll predict. If you had a gun to my head for the ECF, I'd say 4-2 over the Loltics. If you had a gun to my head for the Finals, I'd say just shoot me.

No NBA Champion has swept their opening series (during the short era of best-of-7 first-round series). It happened all the time when the opening series was best-of-5.

So, I'm going to say Cavs 4-1 over the Pistons for the sake of superstition, and we'll see from there. :chuckles:

Backstage
04-14-2009, 12:09 PM
4-0 over Detroit
4-2 over Atlanta
4-1 over Orlando (I see them going all 7 against Boston and squeaking one out with little left in the tank against us)
4-2 against Lakers

I'm going to have to go with 1-0............

Nah I am just kidding guys, I can't do that again, I am giddy. Here are my predictions

Detroit-4-1 only loss being at Detroit in game 4
Atlanta 4-2 losses coming in Atlanta in the 3 &4th game
Celtics 4-1 loss coming at Boston
4-1 .

FromTheSuburbs

Heat: 4-2
Celtics: 4-2
Trail Blazers :eek:: 4-0

And since this is a prediction thread and I'm down for a little wagering, who wants to get some donations to lebron2010.com? I'll get it started, if Cavs don't sweep the Pistons the opening round I'll put down $25 to the cause. Who's with me?

Win all home games, ATL and DET can only snag one of us away. Magic handle the beat up Boston so we can floor them in the ECF. 2-3-2 in the finals works for us, we manage to scrape one away and win all our home ones.

4-0 over Atlanta
4-0 over Boston
4-0 over LA

I don't care about epic showdowns, I want this to be over as quick as possible so we can take our trophy before the Curse strikes again.

Reality:

4-0 over Pistons (maybe 4-1)
4-2 over Hawks
4-2 over Celtics (I think we can steal a game in Boston before they steal one in Cleveland)
4-2 over any West team minus LA
4-3 over LA... hopefully at worst

If we do meet in the finals the only way LA can beat the cavs i think is if we steal one of the two first games... then we have 3 at staples and the cavs could be in some trouble on the road.

I don't think you guys will have any problem with any other opponent.

That's if we meet.

That's how I feel too, actually.

You tell him to "have some faith" yet he is free to have his own opinion. Which is it? I have faith that this is the second best team in the league and that we will get to the Finals and beat ANY team in the Finals- except the Lakers.

Won't stop me from screaming my head off and rooting the whole way.

my thoughts exactly.

D-wade will probably steal a game or two from us. Boston will be tough, but 6 games sounds right. And then the finals is just a toss-up. I hope we win it in 7, but if i was to have to put a million bucks on us or the lakers, i'd go with the lakers. I hope to god i'm wrong though.

*Its curious how so many people are picking Miami over Atlanta. Yes, D-Wade is ridiculous, but Atlanta is better at almost every other position. Plus, Joe Johnson ain't too shaby.

4-2 over Boston
4-2 over L.A.
*F-this! Too many people on here give the Lakers too much credit. They're still the same team that folded a 20 point lead in one game and a 30+ point shalacking in an elimination game in the finals last year. Just as we haven't won anything yet, neither have the Lakers. My opinion: great defense beats great offense. CAVS for the 'ship baby!:headbang:

There's something that the Lakers are missing and I think it's a vocal leader. Don't even come at me with that Kobe shit either. He leads by example not by voice.

They were missing a vocal leader last year when they let go of that 20 point lead. They were missing a vocal leader when they got their asses whooped in game 6. You can't get by on talent alone.

I also think that they still lack toughness. Defense beats offense everytime. Ya'll get what i'm trying to say? Cavs in 09 baby. Bring on anyone who gets in our way. With that said...

4-2 over Atlanta

I'm not sure, either 4-3 or 4-2 over LA. I can't decide.

I agree with you on the fact that kobe is not a vocal leader, this is where me may need a vetran guy someone like fisher to step up. As far as toughness i think with bynum back and him just standing at the center position instead of pau makes us alot tougher. The thing is... we match up well against your guys. you have the best player in the game but Z,varajao?(idk how to spell) hixon. will really have to step up against bynum/gasol/odom

We'll be lucky if they actually let us play 4 games against LA. More likely when they see how bad we are in Game 1, they'll just force us to forfeit the remaining games and hand Kobe the trophy right then and there.

I don't understand why a lot of people think that you match up well against us.Even people here in RCF think this way.

There is absolutely no way you can tell how we'll match up against you when our team is FULLY healthy.

The first game at LA we were missing Z (our 7'3 tall center) and Delonte (our best defensive guard and 3 point shooter).

One of the biggest reason why this game was a blow out was because Bynum stayed in the paint during the all game. Now ask him to do that with Z on the court hitting the 18 footer and you will pay it during the whole series if we meet in the finals. And guess what?Just this adjustement opens up the lanes for not only LeBron but for Mo and Delonte too.

As far as the second game in Cleveland, Delonte didn't play also in this game and his replacement Sasha who was having a good game injured himself just before halftime, thus creating size problems that explained Odom's big second half.

And finally there is one very important thing LA fans seem to forget : Joe Smith.A second unit of Joe Smith and Ben Wallace is a little bit different than a second unit of Wally and Hickson.Don't you agree?
Lamar Odom is not going to over power veterans like Joe Smith and Ben Wallace like he did to Hickson.

Oh and I forgot to mention LeBron's poor games against you (9-25 and 5-20 shooting). You know this is not going to happen again.

Coincidence?

4-0 vs Pistons - Cavs officially end the era of Pistons relevance
4-2 vs Heat - LeBron officially answers the D-Whistle vs LBJ question
4-2 vs Celtics - Cavs classily dispatch last year's champs
4-3 vs Lakers - LeBron answers the Kobe vs LBJ question

The cool thing to me is that there is the potential for every series to provide an opportunity for the Cavs (LeBron) to put a lot of questions to bed about their viability as a championship team (MVP).

Of course, any path to a championship would have these moments, but the four above seem to be to be pretty major.
