Cavs had a lazy afternoon game and are headed home, so hopefully the back-to-back doesn't affect their play. We should be able to beat them easily, but you can never underestimate a team.

Hopefully the Cavs stay focused and continue to play like they have something to prove (see: Christmas day).

Can we call every game from now on that doesn't involve the Lakers, Celtics and Magic a trap game?

This is a trap game fellas.

In all seriousness Captain Jack is imposing his will on this team. They are hanging tough and looking good things for a first ever playoff birth. No Chandler certainly helps as this means Diop gets court time.

The main thing the cavs have to do is score the ball efficiently, The bobcats are starting to play larry brown D now and so the role players of the cavs have to hit their open looks. Hopefully Lebron will contain Wallace on the backboards and parker has done a good job of top tier Sg so far this season.

I have a feeling the cavs might need an energetic Delonte west to help them pull this one off.

I don't get a chance to post on here very often, obviously. First off I must say I am always impressed with the game day presentation. Major props.
This team beat us early in the season due to the fact that our offense was way out of wack. The cavs on their winning streak are averaging around 105 points a game and about 49% from 3 (even though one could argue we were very stagnant last night on O, and just horrendous from 3). Before that game we had won 7 in a row over them. Factoring in SJAX on the cats definately helps them (to be honest I wish we would of made a play for him). All in all I think we'll need to wear them down in the paint, and hold their guards to low numbers, which I think we will.

Cavaliers vs. Bobcats: Windhorst Beat Blog
By Brian Windhorst January 03, 2010, 4:59PM
CLEVELAND, Ohio

Starting lineups
Bobcats: Raymond Felton, Stephen Jackson, Gerald Wallace, Boris Diaw, Nazr Mohammed
Cavs: Mo Williams, Anthony Parker, LeBron James, JJ Hickson, Shaquille O'Neal
Officials Joe Crawford, Curtis Blair, James Capers

* Bobcats have been terrible on the road...since yesterday when they won easily at Miami. As the Cavs found out a month ago, they can be pretty good, especially with Jackson. He's a tough cover, especially off the dribble. Both he and Gerald Wallace are tough to keep in front of and the Cavs racked up fouls in the last meeting. Also last time Shaq was outplayed by Mohammed, which was a stunner to say the least.

* Loyal readers of my blog know how much of a fan I am of Wallace and have been for years. It appears he's finally getting some attention this season because he's been an incredible rebounder, leaping from an average of less than eight last year to more than 12 this season. He's a physical defender and a beast in transition. His jumper looks terrible and usually it is but last time he played the Cavs he made a few of them in the upset win. Enoy watching him, he's going to be an All-Star this season...I hope.

* Another Bobcat to watch is Derrick Brown. He's a rookie out of Xavier and he's been playing pretty well recently. He's a 6-8 swing forward (plays small and power forward). He was a guy I thought the Cavs could draft last June.

I liked what I saw of Brown back in pre-season. He should end up a pretty good player for Charlotte down the road. Gerald Wallace is a beast.

You probably wont get more than 7-8 minutes of it. Jax will play most of his minutes at the 2, facing off on AP and West.

Wallace and James will be the match-up that will decide this game, IMO

Jax will get his 20, but LeBron has to keep a body on Wallace and keep him off the damn boards, dude is a rebounding machine this year. we need to win the second chance battle tonight

Decent start. There is 6'8 crew of Jackson, Diaw and Wallace will cause us problems with our athleticism but we should continue countering by going inside. They don't shoot well enough if we make this a half court arm wrestle.

I have never felt so comfortable that a 3 ball would be hit with Parker since Wesley Person.

If James would have moved on the "string" that is the Cavaliers defensive principles he would have been moving when Z moved to help on penetration. Instead, James was caught watching and Diop moved right in front of him to the middle of the rim and got the tip in.

If the Center goes to help strong side the weak side must drop down and put a body on the vacated man always

Gerald Wallace only has 4 boards. Whether it's something we're doing or if he's just not getting as many as many as he usually does for some other reason, I'll take it. Last game he raped us on the boards, IIRC.

We seem to be in control for the most part. Charlotte got a couple calls and couldn't miss thee for a while. Rachet up the D in the third and we'll be fine.

James defense has been real shaky this year.

He looks like the 2007-08 version on man to man and weakside help.
He is terrible on screens. Very weak fighting through them, almost always
goes under the screen.

MYoung23
01-03-2010, 07:13 PM
When the Cavaliers have problems defensively they almost always stem from 2 areas. Individual defense breaking down allowing penetration and the nightmare duo of Williams and Shaq pick-n-roll defense being worse than usual.

Halftime: Cavs 46, Bobcats 45
* Cavs had a nine point lead but then two things shutdown, their offense and their defense. Not good, right? Charlotte was 9-of-16 shooting in that quarter and they got to the line seven times. That is because they were able to get the ball into the middle and force fouls or easy shots. That is exactly what the Cavs were trying to avoid in their game plan. Also, Charlotte got more production from the bench, which is not what has been happening during the winning streak.

* Offensively, the Cavs had just four assists in the second quarter. Most of that came from passing to Mo Williams, who was hot and he has 15 points. LeBron got frustrated that he wasn't getting calls at the rim when driving. Mike Brown was really working the officials on that. But they didn't seem to even run much offense in the last four minutes. That is what they got away with yesterday against the Nets.

* Um, Anderson Varejao attempted what he thought was a 3-pointer. Not at the end of the shot clock, just for the heck of it. He was actually on the line so it didn't count as a 3-point attempt but it was not smart. He's playing great but he needs to slow down a bit offensively. He has been getting out of character a bit, especially in attempting to draw fouls all the time.

First Quarter: Cavs 24, Bobcats 18
• There's not much energy in the building. Not from either team or the fans. It was the same last Sunday for the 6 p.m. start. The only thing the Cavs did well in the first was shoot the 3-pointer. But they have been pretty good so far in not letting the Bobcats drive on them. But it is not for lack of trying, Charlotte leads the lead in pump fakes.

• Two players who showed some good activity were LeBron and Delonte. LeBron knows he has a rebounding challenge playing againt Gerald Wallace and he's been focused on boxing out, he has four rebounds already. West also came out showing like he really wanted to be on the court tonight.

• Boris Diaw isn't much like the player I remember in Phoenix.
