Forward Travis Outlaw has agreed to a five-year, $35 million deal with the New Jersey Nets, his agent, Bill Duffy, told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

The 25-year-old Outlaw averaged 8.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 23 games for the Los Angeles Clippers after being acquired as part of a trade that sent Marcus Camby to the Portland Trail Blazers. In 11 games for Portland last season, Outlaw averaged 9.9 points and 3.5 rebounds.

Drafted in the first round by Portland in 2003, Outlaw has averaged 9.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in seven NBA seasons.

Outlaw is a fairly underrated player. He has played a bench role because he tends to stop the ball from moving on offense and he is a bit of a chucker. All the same, he puts pressure on the defense, defends hard, and rebounds well. I'd take him on my team.

I wouldn't take him for 7 million a year on my team, but I'd take him.

hopefully.... makes an easier road for the fellas to get to the finals

Outlaw was nice in Portland. Once you get hurt, seems like you're expendable.

I think the Nets may have lost the last few hundred fans they had left. They had all the talk about how great this summer would be for them and they tanked two years to get the cap space and they sign Travis Outlaw. Really? He is a good player but he will not sell tickets and get you that many more wins. The NBA where amazing happens
