Sacramento Kings

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

Its also worth noting the Kings may not be in it for the long haul. Unlike the cavs where the number one concern in winning a championship, the kings are desperate for money and if adding some washed up stars wins them ten more games and attracts a bigger crowd, they are much more apt to do it than a team like us. A playoff berth provides a lot of extra money, so i don't think the front office will have any motivation to tank in any form.

It's important to mention that Sacramento is often called a town in the middle of farmland, but there was a very wealthy and diehard fan base around Sacramento as recently as four years ago. With the Warriors on the rise and a new deal with mayor Kevin Johnson, the Sacramento franchise would be wise to go for a win-now mentality. They don't need all that wine country wealth to become Warriors fans.

This thread might last 7 years....

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

A shorter season benefits them. Just saying...

All they have to do is play fair to good basketball for a majority of the season.

...which they won't do..

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

I agree with most here. Reke Havoc + Boogie Cousins + THE JIMMER + JJ = Disaster. And they have Thornton and Salmons too? Simply not enough shots to go around. I say an over/under of 20 games before Cousins tries to punch one of his own teammates for not passing him the ball.

Man, I want to be optimistic, and I want that pick BADLY ... imagine having that pick even if it's #14 or 15 or whatever.

...but fuck, that team is so fucking horrible. Smdh, what a useless trade. :chuckles:

Isn't the Cleveland moddo "there's always next year"? Maybe we'll have three picks in next years draft (one we trade for, ours, Sacs) and package Sacs and the one we traded for along with Andy for a top 5. What a dream, oh well.

As I have said before, in order to make the playoffs in the west you usually need better than a .550 win percentage. Which means in a shortened season they need to win roughly 33 games. I dont see that happening, unless :
the come out as a hot young run and gun team,
Tim Duncan gets hurt ,
Aldridge goes down for significant time hurting Portland,
China holds JR Smith, Wilson chandler, and Kenyon Martin hostage. Nene goes somewhere else. Even at the max talent Den doesnt make it.,
CP3 gets traded (I dont see that happening),

Then after eliminating the previous years playoff teams. We need to hope:
The young Clips dont catch fire, their one botched dunk landing away from being in the bottom five,
Golden State, is built for this short season, no regard for defense or fatigue (I still dont think they sneak in),
Houston escapes the treadmill of mediocrity and goes down.

Then finally we have to realize they are barely playing any games against the east to beat up on bottom feeders.

If all of that happens and they manage to make the playoffs, were looking at a .550 team that is picking in the 18-22 range because so many eastern teams suck.

So what Im saying is.....we have a chance.

If we wind up with a #15 pick ( via trade), the rights to the Kings pick, our 2nd rounder and moving into the top 10. Possibly having 2 top ten picks. We could move up even further if a team just has a bad injury year and falls into the top 5, kind of like the Wiz 2 seasons ago and is looking for a piece to compete.

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

Due the draft pick situation should Grant try and help facilitate another trade to their roster to improve their chances at making the playoffs? Expiring Antawn for removal of the restrictions works for me if no better deals become available. If they are cash strapped we have the TPE as well but not sure if that would work?

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

I
6) Portland: probably not making this playoffs this year.

How do you come to this conclusion? If anything I can see them improve from last year... This long brake might help Roy and Oden to get a bit better health wise and adding Felton and playing him as their PG intead of Miller wouldn´t do any damage either. Batum will be better then last year, he did really well in Europe and will come back as a better player.

The Kings could have the pick of anyone from our team, aside from Irving & Thompson, if they would be willing to remove the lottery protection from that pick. If they took Andy I'd want a future 2nd back from them though.

I don't see them making the playoffs & I don't think anyone from our team would make that big of a difference on their record.

Can we do that? Take the restriction off? Jamison for unprotected in 2012? The only way they would even consider that is if they are in the playoff hunt. But I'd still do lol.

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

The Kings did finish the season 9-9, so there is some reason to hope. Both Marcus Thornton and Delembert were big contributors during that stretch, and there is a very big chance that Dalembert will leave.
