I wouldn't mind keeping this dude if he agreed to resign for the long haul for a reasonable contract, but I'm not sure if he will stay. He's been playing very well, but it is a contract year as well, so who knows. For the hell of it, I figured we could consider who we could trade with, and for what.

Miami needs a point guard desperately, but screw that.

The Lakers need a point guard badly, and Sessions could fit in very nicely with them. We might be able to snatch one or two of the 2012 1st rounders they own this year. Maybe we could offer them Jamison as well since they traded Odom. They do have a TPE.

To whom else could we trade Ramon Sessions, and for what? Why would this trade work?

I believe I read saw a headline that Oklahoma City's back up PG, Eric Maynor is done for the year with a knee injury so that could be our first injury triggered trade scenario.

Ok city is the perfect fit for Sessions with Maynor out for the season.. can snatch up their first round pick and possibly a young raw player they have

There are a few trade options I would like to see happen with OKC.

#1) Sessions for 2012 #1 pick & Cash
#2) Sessions & 2012 #2 pick for Deaquan Cook & OKC 2012 #1
#3) Maybe a larger 3 team deal, something like this between Cavs, Memphis, & OKC:

Cleveland trades Sessions and Harangody for OJ Mayo

OKC Trades Nazr Mohammed and 2012 #1 pick for Sessions

Memphis Trades OJ Mayo for OKC 2012 #1 pick, Harangody, and Nazr Mohammed

Cleveland does this trade because they add a solid young SG in OJ Mayo

OKC does this trade because they add Sessions. With Maynor down they need help at PG and they may view Sessions as a better asset than a late 1st round pick, especially since they need the help now.

Memphis does this trade because they add a 2012 1st rd pick, an expiring contract in Nazr Mohammed, and some PF depth in Harangody for their depleted core of big's.

If OKC or Memphis is not satisfied the Cavs could throw in a future 2nd rd pick for either team.

maynors injury combined with the inability for westbrook to become a facilitator is a great scenario for sessions, they can trade for him and then if it is not good let him walk or s+t him in the summer.

cook could find a home in cleveland, he can shot the ball from 3 which is a skill lacking on our team and a pass first pg will make the most of his skills.

and the pick would help in further trades down the line possibly to package with andy to get a lotto pick

At this point, I'd prefer a draft pick from the Grizz rather than Mayo.

Just loving the idea we could get any kind of first rounder for Sessions.

Let's hope the Thunder/Lakers/whoever would be up for it.

bold is rly rly horrible for okc

lol, sessions isn't exactly a facilitator either. not to mention he is just an awful shooter which is what okc really needs at pg. makes no sense for them to give up cook + a pick.

okc doesn't even really need a pg with maynor out. it gives reggie jackson some playing time and harden can play backup point too which is probably what he'll end up doing when the playoffs roll around anyway.

IMO with the way Sessions has been playing I don't think anybody gives us a draft pick better than a really late 1st rounder into the 2nd round. The Knicks supposedly are still in love with Sessions. I say we force them to give us Iman Shumpert. I see something in him and I don't want to I over board but I think he has all star/star potential.

I'd like to get him as well but I'm not sure how NY would feel about just getting back Sessions. But adding a 6'5" young guard to replace AP would be refreshing.

Fields seems more realistic.. I don't see the knicks moving Shumpert for Ramon Sessions.

That's a little odd. Fields is there starter and is more proven. Shumpert isn't proven.

Fields is by no means proven.

He's looked pretty bad this year, and in the playoffs last year. Look, NY has to give up something to get something in return. They are not going to trade their best guard for Sessions.

I'm not saying this is going to happen, I'm just saying it is much more realistic to target Fields, than Shumpert.

Sesssions makes 4.5 mill $ a year

Sumpert makes just over 1 mill $ per

Fields makes 785k $ per

With Sessions being close to 5 mill $ that would mean for the Cavs to get one of Shumpert or Fields that NY would have to send another player or two for salary reasons because a straight up trade would not work $ wise.

I mean for NY to get close to matching $ they would need for a Shumpert trade they would have to include Jefferies and Bill Walker. That would put them between 3.5 and 4 mill $ in out going salary. If the Cavs wanted Fields NY would probably have to add Balkman and Jefferies to make the $ work for the deal. This would leave the Knicks with 12 players, even thinner than they already are....

I expect the Knicks to offer Nash the full MLE next year since he is FA after this season and I wouldn't be surprised if Nash took it...

With that said Sessions is probably not going to the Knicks.

Now I could see Sessions ending up in OKC for Cole Aldrich and a 2nd since OKC is about 3 million $ under the cap and need a back up PG (Sessions is not worth a 1st, neither is Twan at this stage)

I think lakers are more viable target for trading a guard, but boobie may be a better fit as he is more like fisher.. Not a charger, but deadly from three and a good team player. Boobie would get a bunch of open looks in that offense, and understands mike browns defense already.. The problem is what you get back. Probably need a pick and a contract. Luke Walton, here we come.. I think the lakers will have to make a move for a point in order to imagine they are really in it... Remains to be seen if we are in the mix as a partner. There are a number of teams that might be the guard source. It would not surprise me if the Suns offered up Nash for a pick and a contract.
