Blazers looking to trade their picks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hope we can get in on this...

I want Hollinger to write about how we overpaid for a Portland pick as well

Love Andy but I will take a million scathing tweets and burn every wig I can find if it means we get the #3 pick. YOU HEARD ME ESPN.

Not to mention I think Portland would absolutely love Andy and he would thrive. I'd also enjoy that part.

They are looking to reduce the number of rookies coming through this draft so trades offering the Lakers pick or any of our 2nds do not make sense.

Once they get closer to the draft, provided they keep NJ's pick they will fall in ove with someone at #4 or 5

Just do Andy straight up for their own first rd pick(probably in the 9-12 range) and call it a day.

Then use that pick plus the Lakers pick to try and move up to in the 3-6 range to grab either Beal or MKG

Come out of the draft with Beal or MKG and whoever we take with our own pick at 8-10.

I'm sure they are not worried about bringing in 2 rookies if they get a #4 and a #8-12 pick in this draft. They will draft them just like the NO Hornets will with their two pick. We aren't the only people who want players in this upcomming draft class.

Plus, management has no interest in four rookies showing at training camp, counting Portland's own second-round pick and the one from Houston in the Camby trade that also netted Jonny Flynn and Hasheem Thabeet. The Blazers can even see not spending both No. 1s in June. Instead, the first-rounders will be dangled. "That's definitely something that would be appealing for us," said Chad Buchanan, the acting general manager. "A big part of acquiring that pick (from the Nets), we realize that there'll be value not only to us in the draft but also to other teams where you might be able to flip that high pick into a proven player that is ready to help your team now.

This would be a perfect opportunity to fit Varejao into a trade scenario and get some value back for him before we lose him. Hell, with Varejao having two season-ending injuries in a row, how could the Trail Blazers resist? :chuckles:

Props to Kcott for creativity. I don't think this trade scenario is unreasonable for Portland. The question is can they get better for the NJ Pick..

Its really going to depend on how the lottery shakes out, if the Nets climb in the standing and then lotto luck pushed them to the 7-10 range then i can see the pick being very attainable

Wait.

I thought that's what we actually want? That's what rebuilds are about, young, hungry, energetic players. I'll take 4 rookies all day over AP, Boobie, Casspi, and Erden.

We're not in the running of a championship, maybe not the playoffs either. We need to grow, 4 rookies is a step in the right direction for a team like us.

4 rookies would stunt the growth of the ones that have a chance to develop. 2 or 3 rookies max, even on a rebuilding team. Vet leadership is very important in rebuilding too.

I agree about vet leadership which is why I question the prevailing opinion of leaving this team with only rookies and 2nd year players

I want us to keep Andy for that very reasonhe can show TT how to develop into a great help defensive player

If we can somehow turn a pick and Andy into another lottery pick, we have to do it, but if the best we can get is a mid or late first, you keep Andy.

I wouldnt be apposed to bringing back Jamison ant a much cheaper price. He is a class act and knows how to be a pro, although yes, he is a chucker.

If Andy was a Blazer what's the +/- on games he'd play next season.... 10?

What players in the draft specifically would bring more value to the Cavs on the floor than Anderson Varejao?

The top 5? The top 10?

From everything I've seen about winning basketball games Anderson Varejao seems like somebody you'd want to keep on your team. If you want to trade him away you better be 100%, not 99% that you're getting a future all star in return. Not the next Marvin Williams.

Does anybody know how how many of the projected top 10 in this year's draft class will turn out to be allstars?

I'd be surprised if it was more than 5 of them.

I don't buy that Varejao will go ring chasing and not re-sign with Cleveland.

It is possible to over gamble in the draft, and the possibility of turning a sure thing as sure as Anderson Varejao into an unknown feels like a bad idea.

BTW wasn't Grant once keen on Marvin Williams or was that just internet talk?
