Well, no time like the present to start this thread up.

Rumors have the Browns trying to move up already.

My guess would be for a WR.

Hopefully, we're trying move up for a WR.

Didn't get to watch day one (alarm set for 4 am, nothing like agreeing to go in early on Fri :) for work). Wake up to see that Weeden was taken :(

Well, off to work. Here's to hoping that the rest of draft doesn't disappoint

Still a lot of talent left for us to snag a very talented WR & OL.

I can only assume the Browns did some math before they picked Weeden. And that the math told them that at least 5-6 guys are still on the board that they like and that if they could still get them with this 2nd, then it really wouldn't matter where they took Weeden, so long as they got him.

My hope anyway...I have to trust that Weeden pick had some logic behind it, because on paper it does look terrible.

I think this is probably pretty accurate. They knew their was enough guys that they could risk going Weeden at 22. There's a ton of talent left - I wouldn't be surprised if they traded back up into the 2nd given Heckert's track record.

We could see some kind of combo of Glenn/Massie/Martin and Randle/Hill/Sanu/Quick (?)

I'm thinking Janoris Jenkins could be in play at 37. Browns need OL help (I think WR is less of a need). But a top 10 player is hard to ignore just because he likes to smoke weed and bang chicks without a condom.

I woke up today really happy with yesterday. I wasn't happy with Weeden at first, but I wasn't really mad we missed out on anyone that went after our pick.

The problem is, we still NEED a WR, RT, and LB for next year, with WR and RT probably the biggest needs. I think we really NEED to get another 2nd rounder or another high 3rd rounder.

I'd be fine with any combo of:
WR - Jeffrey, Hill, Randle, Marvin Jones
RT - Glenn, Massie, Schwartz, Martin
LB - Lavonte David, Terrell Manning, Mychal Kendricks, Sean Spence, Demario Davis

Now, I LOVE Lavonte David, but those other guys at the LB position you can get a little later. So, I think we have to go RT or WR here. It really depends on which position Heckert feels like there will be a run on.

Personally, I think I'd try to get Reuben Randle at #37 and then try to trade up a little from the 3rd rounder to get either Massie or Schwartz. Then, with the 4th rounder one of those LB's should still be on the board for us.

If we come away with:
Richardson
Weeden
Randle
Massie
Spence/Manning

That's a home run type of draft for me. They might not all pan out, but on paper that would be a huge draft for the franchise.

I could see us moving down from 37 a little and picking up an extra 3rd or 4th

Also, I think we've got to trade Colt this weekend. I know you can't get much for him, but it you could get a 6th rounder at least it gives you another pick for ammo to move up for someone if needed.

It's not fair to Colt or Weeden if he's still on the team come Monday. Weeden was a first round pick. He's your future at QB and he'll be 29 years old......give him the position and let's go.

Worst case scenario is Colt is still on the team and clearly beats out Weeden in camp. That's a PR disaster for the Browns.

The Browns MUST take Hill or Randle. Long Story short, in order for the Weeden pick to make sense, you need a WR.

I would be absolutely fine with this, and I think Hill makes a lot more sense now then he did yesterday morning. I love his speed and ability to get down the field, but who was going to throw it to him down the field?

Now, he makes more sense with Weeden at QB. I still think I like Randle more because he's probably the "safer" pick, but I'd love either of those guys.

I'm also intrigued by taking Hill at 37 and then getting a slot type guy like Chris Givens or Devon Wylie a few rounds later.

Lots of interesting decisions to come. That's what I love about the draft.

They don't need a slot guy, IMO. I love Norwood in the slot. Or Mo Mass. Either would be absolutely fine in the slot.

I do love Norwood. He's kind of the forgotten man, and I myself even forget about him sometimes. The jury is still out on Mo, though. He's been decent when healthy, but how many concussions is he up to now? 3 or 4? You have to be worried about that.

Re-thinking my initial thought about a slot guy....I'd still like to get 2 WR's in this draft. Maybe like a Reuben Randle/Stephen Hill at 37 and then a Jarius Wright/Joe Adams/etc. somewhere later in the draft.

I'm not sure we need to get a #1 guy like everyone has been hoping for. GB doesn't really have a #1 WR. They have a lot of solid good to great #2 types. If you can get 3-4 of those types of guys, you don't really need that top flight #1 WR threat IMO.
