Fantasy Basketball Thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Honestly you have a good end-of-the year team. One understated thing in fantasy basketball is who plays at the end of the year when many teams rest their stars at the end. You have a lot of young players that even the bad teams that they are on will want to develop and play at the end of the year. Only people I see this happening to are Parker and Kaman.

That's why I always set up my leagues to end two weeks before the actual end of the season. Those last two weeks tend to be garbage time and starters frequently rest, which totally screws up any chance of having a legitimate fantasy finals match-up if you want to keep going to the end of the season.

Anyway, doing a 16 team Yahoo league this year and my draft was:

PG: Kyle Lowry
SG: Klay Thompson
G: Ray Allen
SF: LeBron James
PF: Blake Griffin
F: Danny Green
C: Roy Hibbert
C: JaVale McGee
Util: Greivis Vasquez
Util: Andre Drummond
BN: Derrick Williams
BN: Boris Diaw
BN: D.J. Augustin

I felt I did pretty awesome for a 16-team league. I had the first pick (James), so it could be rough at times waiting thirty picks between my draft choices.

Good going, now you're forced to root for LeBron..

In all seriousness though, nice draft. I did a 12-team league so their wasn't as much opportunity for sleeper picks, but I like your late rounders. Augustin should do some damage right away with Hill injured. I took a chance on Drummond too (among other rooks).

I'm curious how much Ray Ray will contribute this year outside of three pointers, and I'm also wondering if Lowry shares any of the load with "Cavalier-Killer" Calderon.

Looks like a good balance of scoring, defense, and rebounding though. Free throws might nip at you from time to time if that's a factor in your league.

I got first pick. Should I take LBJ or Durant?

I told myself that if I was in that position I would probably take Durant just because I despise rooting for James. However, if you do take James you might find a douchey, bandwagon Heat fan to pay you quite a ransom on the trade market.

Had my final draft last night. It was an auction draft in one of my three pay leagues. We're planning to do this league every year starting with this one (well, technically last year, but we got all the same people back), so we've initiated two keeper slots, which obviously factors in when you're drafting a bit. It's an eight team league and we have six active roster spots (PG, SG, SF, PF, C, Util) per day.

Roster ($):
Josh Smith ($46)
Kyrie Irving ($45)
Carmelo Anthony ($35)
James Harden ($34)
Greg Monroe ($19)
Klay Thompson ($14)
Kyle Lowry ($11)
Stephen Curry ($9)
Carlos Boozer ($8)
Brook Lopez ($6)
Kevin Garnett ($6)
Tyreke Evans ($5)
Andrea Bargnani ($4)
Dion Waiters ($1)
Nikola Pekovic ($1)

Obviously since it was an auction they're ordered by how much I paid rather than draft position. I felt my biggest steals were James Harden (seriously...34 bucks!), Carmelo (considering how much people paid for LeBron and Durant), and pretty much the entire bottom half of my roster. Pekovic for one dollar! Also, we drafted during the Cavs game, so I was still pretty pumped about Waiters and figured what the hell.

I used my typical auction strategy of letting people overpay for the big stars and nominating players I have no interest in. I specifically targeted Kyrie, Harden, Monroe and Thompson. I wanted Cousins, but the price got a bit too rich for my blood. I like to conserve my money early so I can flex it later and fill out my roster with guys who don't suck. Yahoo's retarded ranking system allowed me to get some great deals later because I still had cash and everyone else was hurting.

My accidental purchases were Stephen Curry (although if he stays healthy he's absolutely worth nine bucks) and Kevin Garnett (figured he'd go higher than ten). My last pick was Brook Lopez, and I was basically guaranteed to get him because I had the most money left. Figured he was a steal that late in the draft.

8-0 after the first week. My team is
PG: Kyrie, Damian Lillard, Tyreke Evans, Jamal Crawford
SG: Batum, Kawhi Leonard, Tyreke Evans, Jamal Crawford, Waiters
SF: Durant, Batum, Leonard, Granger
PF: Andy, Scola, Horford, Bargnani
C: Bargnani, Horford, Andy

Would anyone here trade away Rondo and Faried for Kyrie and Hibbert? I would be getting Kyrie - just want to make sure my homer glasses are not on.

Jigo does not get to answer - his mancrush on Rondo can be seen from Chicago.

My assists would take a beating - next best for me is Deron Williams at 7.7 per. However, I also have Monta Ellis and JJ Berea (lol).

Its a two Center league - but have Lopez, Ibaka, Bass, McGee and TT.

Worried about Hibbert's start - in the end, I'm giving up a huge assist guy (Rondo) and an AV clone (Faried). Worth it to make watching Kyrie more fun???

That's hilarious. I have all four of those guys on my fantasy team! I would say it all depends on what you need. With Rondo and Kyrie, you are trading elite Assists and steals for elite 3s and points (and FT% - both have good FG% for PGs). Faried is straight beasting at the moment (helps in REBs, FG%, blocks and steals), while Hibbert has been mostly a drain (only good for blocks) so far. If you already have Deron, I would say adding Kyrie adds to what he brings (3s and points), and I can verify that watching Kyrie and having him on my fantasy team is loads of fun. I'm also a big Rondo guy though b/c of the assists, so it would be tough for me. I guess it depends on which stats you want from the PG position and whether you think Hibbert will turn it around.

Make the trade CCF. Kyrie covers more stats than Rondo and I trust Hibbert more than Faried.

Its not a money league...and I do not have Kyrie on any of my other teams. Literally, made the trade hours before the announcement.

FUCK. 12 team league: I drafted Wade with the #5 pick, Andrew Bynum in the 2nd round and Amare Stoudamire in the 7th. Barely getting by around .500 for now, but this year isn't looking good...
