Alright, guys! With Varejao being out for the season, we have finally received the green light from Sargeant Wuck Wuck to create a tank thread starting at 0:00 today! Thus was this posted with not a second to waste. Unfortunately, this thread was not created before tonight's game. Otherwise, our tank would have had the fuel to out-tank the Hawks. But better now than never! This is our moment to shine! Let's make the Tank Gods proud!

Last Tankapalooza, we had some really great tank pictures, but those are going to be nothing compared to this year. That's right! I'm calling out all artists to post the best tank pictures they can possibly muster (and ketchup as well) Best tank picture gets rep from me and the honorable title of Tankapalooza Tankmeister! :chuckles:

I'll post some originals of my own soon enough, but I'll start off with one I made last season.

I call upon the tank Gods, Anthony Parker and Antawn Jamison! I pray that they may bless our tank with new treads, fuzzy dice, Cavaliers bobbleheads, and a full arsenal of weapons! Please watch over Byron Scott as he leads this tank through the minefield of success. Allow him to keep his head up as he takes this tank to a new level, and also, I pray that Charlotte, New Orleans, Washington, and any other team who is a threat to us will have their tanks destroyed at our hand.

In all these things we pray, tank-men. :chuckles:

What have I done?

Re: Tankapalooza 2012-2013 Edition!

I thought Ben created PIP to make threads like these. He's not going to be pleased when he finds out you already have.

Re: Tankapalooza 2012-2013 Edition!

I have a question about tanking goals. On their upcoming trip, the Cavs play the Kings and Lakers -- it's easy to understand what tank-meisters would want to see happen in those two games. But the Cavs also play Denver, Utah, and Portland, all of whom are ahead of the Lakers right now. Is it better for the Cavs to lose those 3 games or to win one or more of them, so that the Lakers have a better chance of grabbing a playoff spot and sending us a pick. Even if it means the Cavs get further away from the Wizards.

I am just hoping for further development from Thompson/Waiters/etc. and not worrying about wins and losses. What is your fan strategy here, guitarlifter?

p.s. I hate this thread, but I recognize that it is unavoidable at this point in the season.

Wait... if we're taking that means... we aren't trading for Dirk?!?!

the maker of that false thread is taking a 24-hour trip with Mark Cuban.

Well, what we have to look at is the value of what's at stake here (obviously). The value between the 1st and 2nd pick is actually pretty massive a lot of times because your chances of getting a future all-star are exponentially higher when you draft 1st. However, one game could also mean the difference between getting the 27th pick and the 15th pick for us.

So right now, let's say we can have one or the other. In one situation, we get the 1st overall pick in addition to missing out on the 15th pick and instead getting the 27th pick. In the other situation, we get the 2nd pick, but we also get the 15th pick because the Lakers made the playoffs (because we won those games against those teams). If it were last year's draft or the 2011 draft, I'd do picks 1 and 27 every time. However, with no clear frontrunner, it is very difficult to decide. Maybe GMs will all have a consensus #1 by the end of the season, but we've got nothing for now.

I'd probably go 1 and 27, which ultimately means I'd choose that we lose all of those games even at risk of having the Lakers not make the playoffs. We just can't afford to mess with our own pick when we rely on super high draft picks for now.

i would like you to factor in the elephant in the room. the draft lottery, as we know, does not always mean that the #1 seed gets the #1 pick, even if the percentages are slightly in the #1 seed's favor.

would you rather have the #1 seed (possible picks 1-4) going into the draft lottery and the #27 pick? or would you rather have the #2 seed (possible picks 1-5) going into the draft lottery and the #15 pick?

i also want miami to go into a heavy tailspin.

I'll stick by my choice and say that I'd prefer we end with the worst record in the league. It takes away the chance of being the 5th pick in the draft, and we also have the highest chance of winning a top-3 pick. Sure, losing against those teams could possibly net us the 15th pick instead of the 27th pick, but 3 losses against those teams means that the Lakers are only 1 game closer to the playoffs, and the possibility is no payoff whatsoever anyway, but at the cost of us getting the top overall pre-lottery seed.

Also, don't forget how close the tank-off was last season. If we won 3 more games last season, imagine where we would've drafted then. 3 more wins for us so that the Lakers are 1 more game closer to the playoffs?

I don't think the possibly payoff is worth the cost. I am just going to hope that the Lakers get their shit together and let us do our own thing. It's just like how we can't count on LeBron coming back in that we can't hold cap space for shit that MIGHT happen. We gotta support our team first, and, by support, I mean tank the shit out of this league.
