Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

I would love to get speights, he is greatly underrated! Hope we don't give up no first for this one though

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

Interesting. I like Speights

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

Dang, trading a guy who we picked up off waivers for two younger players and picks? Sounds good to me

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

Also would be interesting adding another small PG, maybe depth in case Boobie is traded?

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

I'd expect that the Cavs are giving the picks rather than getting them back?

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

Im betting a second rounder with this..still seems like quite a haul here

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

According to HoopsHype, Speights comes off the books in 2014 and Selby could be here up to 2015

Nope. When you help a team shed salary, acquiring a pick is almost always a major part of the deal.

I think it's a great trade for Cavs. Speights is better than Leuer, Selby is a young guy with some potential. Getting Selby tells me Gibson is most likely being traded before the deadline.

So are they not trading Gay anymore?

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

As Ben pointed out on twitter, pick is most likely a 2nd rounder, memphis first rounders are tied up until 2016

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

Marreese Speights can veto trade still due to Bird Rights, but have to think chance to get good playing time is enough to accept it, have to give Grant credit also, a young big who is locked up until end of 2014, keeps our flexibility intact

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

Wow, I'll take it. Selby was summer league MVP and apparently averaged 22-6.5-7 in the D-League. I think he could turn into a good backup PG.

Re: Cavs In Talks With Memphis

Only way it involves a 1st rounder is if Memphis drops the conditions of the pick they owe Minny. That way they can trade a 2015 1st to Cleveland.

It could also be a trade of a 1st round pick protected 15-30 for the next 4 years.
