Dayz - A mod for Arma II (PC)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If the engine wasn't trash, I feel like this would be one of the best games ever.

It would be built on ANY OTHER FUCKING ENGINE, it'd be the greatest game ever made. The level of realism/depth that rocket continually keeps adding is amazing, and one can only imagine what they could do without the limitations of one of the worst games/engines ever made.

Realism like:
  • Morphine healing a broken bone!
  • A zombie punching you in the face and breaking your leg!
  • The most minor cut bleeding until you die!
  • Guns randomly being found in every grocery store!
  • Any random dude on the street being able to give you a blood transfusion!
  • Being able to sprint without getting tired for hundreds of miles!

I could go on. :)

As you can see, my friends and I have a pretty sweet base camp going. :)

Five cars (2 Humvees, 1 Military Truck, an SUV, and a shitty sedan), a tent (soon to be a few more tents), and a couple of hedgehogs to keep the tents from getting ran over.

There are two more cars nearby that are driveable that we're planning on snagging sometime soon. One has almost no gas in it but is a pretty decent jeep. The other is another shitty sedan which, if nothing else, is good for taking on solitary loot runs because it's totally expendable. We prefer to save the Humvees for group missions.

Tents, by the way, are permanent in a server so long as either the owner is alive (meaning you don't quit before respawning after a death) or so long as someone (not just the owner) places or removes and item within seven days of the owner dying and quitting. This makes them really valuable because you can store a shitload of items in them. Of course, if someone else finds your camp, they can take whichever items they want, so there are always risks.

Still, the alternative is not having anywhere to store excess items.

By the way, if any of you guys still play DayZ, check out this server:

You can just do a filter inside the DayZ server search engine for jupiter and it should be the only server that pops up. It's a private hive server, so your loadout is independent to the server and will not follow you anywhere else. This means that, generally, the same group of people play there. The server is going to implement a white list to prevent hacking, so only people on the white list can get in. If you want to play there, go to the forum link above and apply for the white list. I'm not sure exactly when the list will go into effect, but I gather the admin is waiting for more people to apply before he goes forward with it.

My group (of three) is currently at war with another group (of eight). They basically tried to hoard all of the choppers and military vehicles on the map, and frequently would fly around in one of the attack choppers and gun down people who had no means of fighting back. They were doing this anonymously, but I figured out which guys were doing it pretty quickly just by process of elimination. I didn't really care for their tactics, but I also didn't really mind because they were leaving me alone. Then they killed me and shit was on. :)

I spent about an hour hiking through the northern part of the map until I found their camp (idiots are predictable). They had six choppers and three of those huge military trucks, all of which were filled with tons of weapons and other loot. One of their guys bragged that they had collectively spent 250 hours over the past week collecting choppers, vehicles, and loot. It took me significantly less time to destroy everything. My friend that I play with the most left for a business trip to Atlanta, so I was on my own. Still, it's pretty easy to destroy choppers by yourself. Just take off, fly to a reasonable height, and eject. You parachute safely to earth while the chopper spins out and craters. I did this with four of the choppers (saving the sixth to take me somewhere else; the fifth was out of fuel) and then went about trying to figure out what to do with the trucks.

Thankfully one of them had thought it a good idea to put satchel charges in one of the trucks (did I mention they were stupid?). I put those satchel charges to good use, using two of them on the trucks and the third on the chopper without fuel. I flew the final chopper away to safety. I eagerly await joining the server later when they are all inside.

Anyway, if anyone feels like joining the battle, I can hook you guys up with some good weapons. Just log in and look for Jack Brickman. I'll probably have a bounty on my head. Two days ago they were offering an AS50 to whoever killed me, and that was before I destroyed their camp. :)

This game sounds amazing!! Jesus Christ!

How many people are typically playing in that server at a time? I prefer the quieter ones that way you don't have to worry about douche bags fucking with you (Like you were fucked with). I'll check out that server sometime.

Me and my friends had two helicopters, a GAZ, UAZ, a car, and the military truck that stores 200 items and 50 weapons. Though the server has been down lately and I'm not sure if its down for good.

During peak hours it's between 10 and 20 usually. It's shot up past that a few times, but once the white list kicks in the numbers will probably stay lower.

Edit: It can hold fifty people though.

Great idea, but I think I will wait for the standalone version to be released. I tried War-Z and it was a really bad knock off of this game. This game has potential to blow up.

FYI, my friend and I decided to go ahead and purchase our own server since the one we've been playing on will be shutting down in a week or so. If you guys are interested, here's the info:

IP: 184.173.146.24
Port: 3408

Current Features:
  • Private hive - Your info and items are only saved on this server.
  • Custom starting loadout: Makarov, two clips, bandage, water bottle, cooked steak, an an 8-slot backpack.
  • Starting tools: Map, Hatchet, Matchbox, Flashlight, Knife
  • Tons of extra vehicle spawns. Should be 200 or so.
  • Always daylight.
  • Server located in Washington, D.C., ideal for East Coast and Midwest players.
  • Server restarts automatically every six hours, with regular warnings beforehand.

We'll also be offering custom loadouts (as in, slightly better but not overpowered starting gear chosen by the admins) to server regulars and premium custom loadouts (as in, choice of weapon from a list provided by us...again, nothing too overpowered) for people who donate to the server to help keep it operational. The idea is to reward players who help keep the server running, either by playing there or pitching in some funds, without removing the incentive for them to actually play (by just giving them the best weapons/items).

As an example, if you're a regular, we might start you off with a Winchester rifle instead of no primary weapon. We'll also occasionally be doing various event types from time to time like Hunt the Admin, where one of the admins tells everyone where he is and the first one to kill him gets his custom gear.

You guys should definitely check it out if you're still playing. :)

Edit: We're still working on the vehicle spawns. You have to set each one individually, so it will take a while to get them all up and running. Probably got at least 100 set so far.

This game sounds awesome. Too bad it's on such a shitty engine. Might have to check out the standalone, though.
