D'Antoni resigns from Knicks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Itll be interesting. Im going to the game tonight and im wondering what the atmospheres gonna be.

On NY radio now, Stephen A Smith claiming Phil Jackson wants to coach the Knicks next year if Dolan throws him money, (he also called D'Antoni getting fired this week too).

I know alot don't like him but he is really plugged into the Knicks...

Mark Heisler, who's very plugged into the Jackson camp, says Phil is content with retirement. Classic New York sports drama.

And I don't agree with the anti-D'Antoni sentiment in this thread. While I'm skeptical as to whether his system will ever produce an NBA champion, the team was clearly better when Carmelo was out. I agree with everything Brian Koppelman says in this rant.

They probably forced him out. They were probably going to fire him but D'Antoni "resigned". Either way, I'd want to quit that team.

How is that different? They'll be better immediately when Woodson takes over and they ride the inevitable energy wave that accompanies a coaching change, and when they get a Phil Jackson/Jerry Sloan/Brian Shaw type they will be better in the long run.

?

Do you know who Woodson is? The only energy wave that will be washing upon the shores of Knicksville, Maryland will be negative energy waves.

Mike D'Antoni sought a trade of Carmelo Anthony for Deron Williams, according to a source.

Williams was thought of as a better fit for D'Antoni's system.

The efforts of D'Antoni were overruled by James Dolan.

Was this before of after Lin? I guess they could have traded for Williams and then traded away Lin for a wing.

Williams>>>Melo.

You're a fool to think otherwise. Hell, D'Antoni is right on the money with this trade. I think the Nets would consider it as well, too bad Dolan is the owner though. Dolan an owner, ahh fuck wait a minute...

Adrian Wojnarowski was just on the Jim Rome show. Said D'Antoni did not lose the locker room. It's basically the locker room vs Melo, right now, according to Woj.

And Portland comes out and just plays dead for the Knicks.

How does McMillan still have a job?

He's gone. Blazers are trading Crawford and maybe more. They had three unforced backcourt violations in the first half. I've never seen anything like it.

The energy wave that I was referring to blew the shit out of Portland last night. :)

It has nothing to do with Woodson; teams simply respond with a burst of energy after a coaching change. It might not last long under Woodson, but I specifically mentioned "the inevitable energy wave that accompanies a coaching change".

:chuckles:

Mike was never going to win a championship with his game plan. He has refused to adjust to the players he had, and it showed in the way the Knicks played after they got Meo. Phil Jackson would coach that team to the ECF imo. He might not be able to get Melo and Amare to be all NBA defenders (lol of course he couldn't), but at the very least he would install an offense that would maximize the assets that he had.
