Didn't really understand why the Cavs and most of the fan base was so high on Barnes, saying it would take a top 3 pick to acquire him and the chances weren't likely. But once his draft stock took a major hit, the Cavs and the fan base decided he wasn't the best pick. Always thought he was the best pick for the Cavaliers to make at their position.

Really didn't understand it. The guy is going to average 25 points a game for his career on good percentages, and also pull down some boards to boot. He's going to be an all-star forward for several years. I was pretty disappointed when the Cavs went with Waiters, but I also don't hate Waiters by any means. He's going to be a serious offensive threat next to Irving, but Barnes will overall have the better career in my eyes.

Lol, you do realize only 16 players in the history of the NBA have averaged 25 points per game for their career? Larry Bird and Shaq didn't even average 25. Don't get me wrong. I think he will be a good player, but the hyperbole and overreactions on this board get tiresome.

Does this count active players? LeBron, and Kobe shouldn't count, and neither should Durant if he's on that list. Maybe Melo? If all 4 of those are of the 16 then 12 non actives makes that 25ppg average god damn impressive.

Are they better than Barnes? I was just listing Forwards that are still young enough to compete for a while (notice no Duncan, etc). Just proving a point. Who cares who makes up that point - there's 10 other guys that you did not bold. That's deep when you consider only a few make the team.

And I hate Asik - think the board knows that. But many on here think he is this great player...hence, why he was added.

So really it's 9 then. I'm not saying it is unreasonable to assume LeBron, Durant, and Kobe all finish their careers with a 25+ppg average, but it is unfair to include them in such a list because there is so much uncertainty left in their careers. If Durant/LeBron go all Grant Hill on us, and get incredibly injured yet still play than their averages would drop likely below 20. With Kobe he's said he's going to retire in the next couple of years, so I think it is fairly safe to say he will end up with 25ppg, but he still shouldn't count at this point imo.

As for Wade being on that list just barely, I fully expect his average to drop well below 25ppg, possibly this year...

Already looking forward to bumping this thread in two years.

LOL PIP...

This is the same guy who said Sanchez was the reincarnation of Christ and was adamant that Dwyane Wade was better than LeBron.

Just a hipster. Nothing to see here. :chuckles:

So you even had to cherrypick 3 out of 4 games to "prove" your point? Brilliant.
The Small Sample Size Institute approves this message!

My favorite part was when the guy said he'd average 25 a game for his career. Lololololol .... same guy that used to defend Larry Hughes til death and probably still thinks Larry is a good player.

When I see Harrison Barnes I see potential greatness... A combination of Steve Smith, Glen Rice and Scottie Pippen wrapped into a single player... The ability to run the floor, move off the ball, take off the dribble, post up, defend, rebound, pass, shoot from deep, shoot from mid-range, with a high basketball IQ... Working on the handles to shake defenders is key-- once conquered, I believe it's safe to suggest he will pass up Carmelo to stake claim to being the 3rd best SF behind LeBron and Durant easily...

There's something special there and it's blossoming...
