Locke - 8/10

Holy shit what a ride. Tom Hardy plays a foreman who has decided to leave his job and family behind to see the birth his illegitimate son, and on the car ride over he has to balance his private life and professional life through phone calls with different people. Tom Hardy fucking CRUSHES this shit. some of the most impressive acting I've ever seen and a wildly emotional experience. Hardy is the only actor being shown and the entire movie takes place in his car over 1 hour and 20 minutes. those kinds of movies rely more than anything on the performance of the actors and Hardy is just so fucking believable and lovable as the silent and softspoken man, who tries to maintain some sort of order in his life in a wildly stressful situation. Absolutely astounding, it does take a good bit of attention to really savour the what's so great in the film, and some will probably find it a bit boring, but if you want to see some of the best acting from one of the biggest rising stars in the world right now, it's definitely worth watching.

I thought Babadook was good but it lost me at the point...
during the final third when the Babadook became a physical being and you were hit over the head with this thing possessing the mother. The first 2/3 was perfect where you only saw the physical manifestation within the book.

Edit: Martyrs remains the most perfect horror movie to me.

Stretch - 6/10

Partick Wilson is an out of luck Limo driver who has a crazy crazy night running errands. This movie is really interesting and fun to watch. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice fast paced mild thriller.

Guns, Girls And Gambling - 6.5/10

This movie is fast paced, entertaining and fun. It does not have the perfect ending but so what? It does entertain. The movie is about Christian Slater who enters an Indian Casino to take part in an Elvis Impersonator contest. After the competition he plays some cards with the other Elvis Impersonator and passes out. When he wakes up - A holy Indian mask from the casino is missing and the Indians give Slater 24 hours to find the mask before they kill him. As he searches for the mask he soon finds out that there are other people who are looking for the mask and trying to kill him.

Saturday Nights are Netflix/HBOGO/DVD nights. We easily roll through 3-4 movies a night. So, I'm tasked with coming up with a good 4-5 movies to choose from for every Netflix night. I'm staying away from romantic movies, as they are not my thing.

I'm trying to go with
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
Wolf of Wall Street
Kill the Irishman
and I need to throw in a comedy, but can't think of one.

Little help.... Thanks

The new Bill Burr stand-up on Netflix is really good.

Also, try the Guy Ritchie good movie gauntlet one Saturday. 1. Lock Stock 2. Snatch 3. RocknRolla 4. Revolver (much different tone than the others)

@kosis - Bill Burr is pretty funny. I'm going to have to see if he's into that sort of thing.

We've already been going through a mini Tarantino movie watch. Those are good.

Jack Ryan Shadow Agent - 4/10

This one deserves to be in the shadows! The movie starts out promisingly well and then halfway through gets rushed and ends in a cheesy and boring way. Once you are through the halfway point and they start accelerating the plot for the sake of moving it you just cant wait for the movie to end,

IceMan - 6/10

Michael Shannon nails it as the Iceman - A killer who use to work for the mob and was finally arrested. This movie is a bit slow but has a lot of good moments and the acting by all the cast members is really good.

Is anyone else interested in Inherent Vice?

YES. pta & joaquin can't disappoint. would've been nice if the limited release included the cleveland area tho.

as an aside, since my family isn't having their christmas party on christmas day this year, i'm really leaning towards hitting up the movies and marathoning top five, wild, the imitation game, and into the woods. past month has been just killing it for movie releases.
