Unfortunately, I'd say that's Windy letting Cavs fans down easily.

A second opinion in this scenario is likely seeing a specialist and assessing any long term risks.

Windy mentioning free agency doesn't sound good but could be an innocent add on.

This injury likely doesn't impact the Cavs willingness to sign Love long term but his camp wanting to pursue second opinions would appear to be a "we need to keep our options open" signal.

Guess we'll see.....

Ehhh I interpreted that as bad news folks...usually 2nd opinion is when you don't like what the first doc told you..

Especially because Love was adamant in his post-game interview about returning for the playoffs, seems pretty clear he wanted to make a run this year and if he got cleared would prob jump all over it.

That's awful news if true. Just terrible. The news that I now fear is coming sooner or later is fairly soul crushing as a Cleveland sports fan, and just a fan of Kevin Love the player. Please be available for the finals at least.

UGh, sort of our worst fears when acquiring him, that he would be hurt when it mattered...

My first thought too.. It would be kind of disturbing that he's more concerned about free agency than the ongoing playoffs though. I guess that's the business of the NBA.

I don't think it's that he's more concerned about free agency, but rather than he wants to make sure he doesn't do any lasting damage to his shoulder by continuing to play.

I interpret that as he can play but would be taking a big risk in doing so.

Now seeing what another doctor thinks.

I guess. But this is an injury that could have happened to ANY player. it's not the result of him being "injury prone" no matter how anyone wants to spin it.

I just assume fans of any team worry about any of their top 3-4 players getting injured all the time.

How is that concerning? He could be missing out on 80million + if he permanently screws up his shoulder. Any smart person would make the same cost/benefit analysis.

I understand and was speaking as a Cavs fan not so much as his accountant.

The more I think about it I think this is just as likely as the worst case news.. it might just be he was told he was taking a risk but could play, and he wants to fully gauge the risk by speaking to another doctor. It's all guesswork and frankly I don't fully trust Windy anymore anyway, so it's still wait and see.

The Cavs medical staff is highly thought of though.

The notion that they would be rushing a guy back who could stand to lose the kind of money Kevin will make, seems INCREDIBLY unlikely.

It seems more likely (at least to me) that the Cavs medical staff saw something unsettling, Love was pressing to try to play and the staff told him he needed to seek a second opinion from a specialist.

I don't think that the medical staff has already given him the green light less than 24 hours after the injury and Love is now not trusting them and getting another opinion.

Hard to take the desire for a second opinion in a positive light. It almost always means the first one was bad news.
In this case, the guess would be he was told that the shoulder needs surgery to repair.

I do want to be totally wrong in my opinion here.

My uneducated guess, no sources or anything to back this up..

Love tore something, will need surgery regardless. Playing through it will most likely be super painful, super dangerous, and likely render him ineffective.

Think we shut him down for the rest of the season, do the best we can, and take another shot next year with the team together an entire yet from start-to-finish.
