The Official True Detective Scene

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They are stills taken directly from the trailer, which has literally been posted in here multiple times. Figured everyone in here has seen it.

As I said though, I watched the trailers weeks/months ago and didn't remember every detail in them. It's obviously on HBO's promo dept. for cutting those trailers, but there was no need after last night to go back and search through the trailers to see if the Ray or is dead or alive. Personally, I don't even like watching the "next time on..." previews because I'd rather go in clean to an episode, and it's not like I need to be convinced to watch the next episode.

Anyways, we clearly have our answer now that Ray's alive and it will be interesting to see how they explain it.

I posted them in the 1st place because the thing I remembered the most about the trailer was the scene where him, McAdams, and the LAPD are marching on something in bulletproof vests, and I said to myself after the episode, "Hey, I never saw that scene these last 2 weeks", which got me to thinking. I haven't watched the trailer for a while either, but I remember certain scenes from it, like the back of Vince Vaughn's head walking through blue lights at a club that was showed in last nights episode.

But yes, I agree it will be interesting. 1st thing I noticed after the fact was that there was no blood in that scene. Point blank shotgun to the abdomen would splatter some blood.

I'm assuming they were rubber bullets...something that would put you down for a minute. Perhaps Birdman just wanted to find out who's on his tail? (no pun intended)

Also, don't forget he was shot in the chest (flak jacket), and the non-kill shot also leans toward LEO/PD shooter.

Is anyone else hoping to see Regina from Mean Girls get all porn crazy, or am I just a creepasaurus?

I can't be the only person that is having a problem with the clarity of the dialogue. Either they are talking too quiet at times (whispering in bed) or some of the dialogue gets drowned out by other noises. This wasn't a problem with season one. I almost feel like turning closed caption on so I don't miss important pieces of dialogue, or trying to rewind it and read lips to see what is going on.

I found seasons ones characters and setting infinitely more compelling than this season so far. I keep watching because, but i don't give a shit about regina george, or guy that needs viagra. I do like Colin Farell's character because there never seems to be enough alcohol available for him and he is a loose canon capable of anything. Vince Vaughn i'm starting to think was a miscast. Speak the fuck up when you are in bed with your wife/girlfriend please.

Major let down thus far. Farrell has been a bright spot though. Just too much going on, and they're throwing it at us so fast, it's really hard to digest it all so fast, and it's not like it's been so compelling that it keeps you interested, too.

I think Vince Vaughn has been fine too, I don't have a problem with him. Don't think he's a miscast. Him and Farrell are fine actors and are playing their roles fine. I don't give two fucks about the Viagra cop, nor McAdams. I never liked her to begin with, and scratched my head when she got the part. Nice ass, not the greatest actress.

I'll keep watching, it's not horrendous. I didn't expect it to be as good as one though.

There's not many shows I really like, and I've been waiting anxiously for it to return.

I felt the wait has been a letdown personally.

Personally, I had the same problem last year with McConaughey laying it on so thick with his accent. Whoever does the sound mixing on this show should be replaced.

Not digging it so far, and I was really excited when I saw the trailers. Fantastic cast that they haven't done much with yet. Hopefully it will get better soon, definitely worth giving it the chance.

Colin Ferrell is doing a good job in his role, but an alcoholic loose cannon cop with a divorce and a new father figure for his kid that he hates? Come on, that's the most cliche thing ever.

The problem isn't the acting at all. All of the actors are doing a fine job. The characters so far aren't very compelling other than Farrell, even as cliche as his situation is.

I'm not quite seeing the need for Viagra cop and I'm not at all attached to regina. The exchanges between woody and Mathew last season was great. The chemistry was there right from the start.

Who thought of that line for vauhn anyway "don't do anything while you're hungry, not even eat."

Weird True Detective is the best True Detective. I need more sex devices and and an army of birdmen please.

Nic Pizzolatto. He has his highs and lows when it comes to writing dialogue, but it's all fine if he has the right actors saying it.

I feel like that moment is where the rumblings of Vaughn being miscast really started. He really didn't know to deliver that tricky line of dialogue. I can picture both Rust and Marty nailing it, for example. Colin Farrell's character too.

My biggest problem so far with this season, is season 1. Human nature is such that no matter what we do, we can't help but use all prior content as a reference point for what is to come. That's what has happened with season 2 for me so far.

It just lacks conviction, and I'm not finding it anywhere near as compelling as the first 2 episodes of season 1. I love Vaughn as a comedic actor, but I just can't quite get behind the lines that Pizzolatto wrote for him.

There's been a mixed delivery of the great and the poor so far, perfectly summed up by the 2 different car scenes we were given with McAdams and Farrell:

Scene 1
“Maybe it’s just a little too close to sucking a robot’s dick.”

Scene 2
“The fundamental difference between the sexes is that one can kill the other with their bare hands.”

You can see where Pizzolatto was going with both pieces of dialogue. But it's a little hit-and-miss, kind of like how this season has been so far.

Yeah, some of the scenes have been painful. But it's True Detective, so I am not giving up yet.

I want that bird mask, btw. The new horse head?

Im confused...

How many episodes is this season? I'm just not getting where this is going or which characters I should be caring about.

At least Vince Vaughn kicked some ass. Was that dead guy the same one he visited earlier?
