I might need some help from you guys (esp. @DCunleaded and @David. ) on choosing what weights to do at the meet. Im leaning towards making my first attempt something I can get easily (ie. 315 squat) just so I can get all 3 lifts at least recorded, I would seriously hate to bomb out of my first meet.
I've never done PL meets, but I've helped guys prep for Oly WL meets (three lifts each, pre-set). Since this is your first meet, I would set the first two weights a little more conservative than usual.
1st lift: Something you can do regularly, just to get on the board: Let's say 80% of your 1RM
2nd lift: 90% of your 1RM (next meets, bring this in the 95-99% of 1RM range)
3rd lift: 105% of your 1RM, if not more.
This might change as you do more meets, so just use this for your first meet. Just plan on it being a great day to hit new 1RMs, and not worry about other people. Worse case scenario, you still make good on 2/3 of all your competitive lifts.
As for the Kettlebell stuff....they're awesome; great for conditioning and getting some increased strength. A couple things; learn to snatch, and only do the Russian KB swing (KB only goes a little bit over your head, as opposed to the CF/American KB swing where the KB is completely inverted over your head).
