That was me. He played youth baseball with my younger brother before his family moved back to California.

I had been tracking his stats periodically but didn't realize he had been given the opportunity to start. That's awesome.

Can someone explain how Michael Choice fell off the map so quickly? He was a top 100 prospect going into 2014 and one bad year (and only 300 at bats) later we were able to acquire him for cash?

Is there any reason to be excited about him? Seems crazy they gave up on him so quickly. Even his AAA numbers from last year aren't bad.

Classic mix of looks like a AAAA player and was out of options. It was either keep him on roster and hope he finds his form, or try to improve the roster with a sure thing and make a playoff push, which is what they chose to do. He was DFA'd and traded instead of placed on waivers so they could get something back for him, even if it was just cash, which is why we got him for cheap.

Could be a huge reward move if he regains his top 100 prospect form and it finally translates to the bigs...has happened before in the MLB.
