Re: Former Cavalier Lorenzen Wright "Missing"

Hope everything is okay, seemed like a class act.

Re: Former Cavalier Lorenzen Wright "Missing"

Maybe he is just in Miami trying to get on the Heat like every other big man. But in all seriousness, hope he turns up okay.

Re: Former Cavalier Lorenzen Wright "Missing"

Thats terrible. I always like Lorenzen, every time they showed a picture of him on the bench he was always talking to JJ and mentoring him in some way. Great guy, I hope everything is okay and it is a big misunderstanding.

Re: Former Cavalier Lorenzen Wright "Missing"

to be fair the link was first posted on RCF's twitter and i think windy follows that. so maybe he isn't a normal member but just got it from there?

Re: Former Cavalier Lorenzen Wright "Missing"

That's scary, hope he's alright. Prayers to him and family.

Re: Former Cavalier Lorenzen Wright "Missing"

I hope this turns out in a positive way somehow. I always liked him, and I never like to see these kinds of stories pop up.

Re: Former Cavalier Lorenzen Wright "Missing"

Hope he is okay, he was always the most smartly dressed man on the bench.

Re: Former Cavalier Lorenzen Wright "Missing"

I'm hoping he is ok. This is sad.

Closing thread because two users decided to make jokes and propose sick bets, which have been deleted.

If someone hears about an update about Lorenzen, please start a new thread. Hopefully, it will be good news.

Re: Former Cavalier Lorenzen Wright "Missing"

An update from the Memphis paper. Leaving thread closed until there are more developments. Hope it turns out okay.

The family of Lorenzen Wright, a former University of Memphis and Memphis Grizzlies basketball player who has been reported missing, said Saturday they suspect foul play.

The 6-foot-11 power forward was last seen Monday at a Memphis barbershop, where he had his hair cut, said his sister, Adriane Harris.

Before that, Wright was seen July 18 at his ex-wife’s house in Collierville, she said.

The family reported his disappearance Thursday to Collierville police, and since then investigators have not found any indications of foul play, said city spokesman Mark Heuberger.

But family members are not so sure, Harris said. Wright has been out of touch before, but “not to this extent.”

“If he did go somewhere, someone could get in touch with him,” she said. “No one can.”

The disappearance of the Memphis native follows several financial and personal setbacks, including a divorce and the foreclosures of two houses.

His custom-built 17-room home in Eads, Tenn., was repossessed in May by BankTennessee for $1.3 million after Wright and his ex-wife, Sherra, defaulted on their $2.7 million loan, records show.

Golden State Warriors player Monta Ellis bought the house May 21 for $1.7 million.

The former couple also bought a house in Atlanta, Ga., in 2006 for $1.3 million. That house was repossessed for $1.1 million by Citibank in January, records show.

Wright, a 13-season veteran of the NBA, most recently played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2009 before he fractured his thumb. He has played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies since being drafted No. 7 overall in 1996.

Hawks exec says Wright wanted to continue basketball career, perhaps overseas

COLLIERVILLE, TN (WMC-TV) - A missing persons report released Tuesday includes new details about the person who reported former Memphis Tiger basketball star Lorenzen Wright missing, as well as the two friends who saw him last.

Wright's mother filed the report, saying her son hadn't been seen or heard from since Sunday, July 18. Since then family, friends, and those who are close to Wright have been worried about his disappearance.

While authorities continue to investigate every lead surrounding the disappearance, Arthur Triche, Vice President of Communications for the Atlanta Hawks, spoke Tuesday about the last time he saw Wright in Washington, DC, this past January.

"Happened to run into him at one of the local sports bars," Triche said Tuesday. "Had a good conversation with him. Shot the breeze with him, and recently heard from him over the phone."

Wright played for the Hawks during two different stints in his NBA career, first in 1999-2001 and later again in 2006-2008. Wright once played for the Memphis Grizzlies, and is an alumni of the University of Memphis.

Wright recently fell on difficult personal and financial times, with a divorce and foreclosure on two homes. According to the police report, a female friend dropped him off at a local restaurant on July 18th, and another friend dropped him off at his ex-wife's Collierville home.

Wright's barber was the last to see him Monday afternoon.

"Obviously the information we've heard over the past few days is a shock to all of us in the NBA family," Triche said.

Despite his many hardships, Triche called Wright a "great guy" who had a lot of goals and aspirations.

"He did express a desire to continue his career," Triche said. "I think the conversation consisted of him going overseas or something like that. But it was around the time when 10 day contracts were available in the NBA, putting on hope that something like that would materialize as well."

While police don't suspect foul play, Wright's family fears something is wrong. Triche says he's hoping that's not the case.

Re: Former Cavalier Lorenzen Wright "Missing"

Looks like the worst news possible, though not yet confirmed by local officials.

Body found in southeast Memphis; no confirmation if victim is Lorenzen Wright

By Beth Warren

Memphis Police officers are on the scene of a wooded area at Hacks Cross and Winchester in southeast Memphis where a body has been found.

Officers can't yet confirm the identity of the victim, but two police sources say they are investigating whether it may be the body of missing basketball star Lorenzen Wright. Police sources have confirmed they are investigating a 911 hangup call from Wright's cellphone left Monday morning - the day he disappeared.

The body was found by someone who called police today.

Wright likely had a lot of cash on him when he was last seen leaving his ex-wife’s Collierville home, fueling concerns he may be the victim of foul play, according to a Collierville police report released today.

Wright, a former NBA standout who once played for the Memphis Grizzlies, recently flew in from Atlanta to Memphis to visit friends and his six children, friends said. He was scheduled to catch a ride back to the Atlanta area July 19 with a buddy with his six kids in tow. He was last seen in the wee hours of that morning, at about 2 a.m., leaving his ex-wife’s Whisperwood Drive home, but his former wife, Sherra Robinson Wright, 39, told police she doesn’t know who he left with or what type of car they were in, according to the missing person’s report.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
