The Carolina Panthers select Billy Turner, OT, North Dakota State (Go Bison!)

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

With the 61st pick of the RCF Mock Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select:

Lamarcus Joyner - DB - Florida State

lamarcus-joyner.jpg

Arguably the biggest weakness on defense is how much they'll need to replace in the back seven. Joyner is a versatile defensive back who could play as a safety or in the nickel.

He's a good hitter, he's very quick and has a nose for the football. He'll fit in nicely in the defensive backfield and make an immediate impact.

The New England Patriots (Sly) are now on the clock.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

With the 62nd pick in the 2014 RCF Mock Draft; the New England Patriots select..

Stephon Tuitt, Defensive Line, Notre Dame

0ap2000000264740.jpg

6'5" / 304

STRENGTHS
Looks the part -- has prototypical dimensions for a five-technique. Long-armed to play off blocks. Holds his ground at the point of attack. Can stack and shed. Has excellent movement skill for a man his size. Plays on his feet. Coordinated and in control of his body. Knee bender able to flatten or redirect efficiently. Strong wrap tackler. Scheme and position versatile -- played end and tackle in even and odd fronts. Notched 20.5 sacks in 28 career starts. Disrupts passing lanes. Did 31 bench-press reps at the combine.

WEAKNESSES
Monotone edge rusher -- not a quick-twitch athlete (average get-off quickness). Can play with more consistent leverage. Hip and shoulder stiffness shows when he attempts to bend the corner. Can do a better job shooting his hands with authority to jolt blockers. Needs to become a better hands fighter and develop pass-rush moves. Can play with more violence. Average intensity and relentlessness.

BOTTOM LINE
Hulking, long-armed, physically gifted defensive lineman with desirable size, strength, athleticism and versatility to appeal as a five-technique or as a defensive tackle or base end in a 4-3. Gained approximately 20 pounds as a junior and was not in peak condition, but has disruptive upside.

The Denver Broncos are now on the clock.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

Broncos select Jack Mewhort, OT Ohio State

Seattle is on the clock

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

I thought I'd get my choice between Tuitt and Mewhort... Good picks.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

Might be a pain in the ass, but can someone do a "best available" list?

My big board only has Manziel and Ohio State players on it. And its all crossed out...

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

I almost took Tuitt over Calvin Pryor in the first. So I definitely think I stole him here.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

With the 64th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the Seattle Seahawks select...

Martavis Bryant, WR Clemson
0920_dmlo_clemson_1A_t607.JPG

martavis-bryant.jpg

Bryant is a big, fast dude. 6'4 211 lbs 4.42 speed with large & dependable hands this kid can really open up the Seattle offense. The Seahawks base their offense off a power run and short passes with run after catch potential. A guy like Bryant doesn't necessarily fit that scheme but the threat of him streaking down the sideline and Russell Wilson's arm powerful enough to get it to him should open up others in the offense. Bryant would be the homerun hitter this team does not have and he's a match up nightmare which Pete Carroll loves. He also would be a fantastic red zone target and he's not afraid to go over the middle to get tough yards for a first down. He's not without risk in that his mental capacity has been called into question as well as the fear that money, fame and the NFL lifestyle might be a little too much for this guy. Carroll is not risk adverse and he'll take talent tied with physical mismatches and deal with the off the field concerns.

That's the end of the 2nd round. Houston kicks us off for round 3.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

I thought we werent doing a 3rd? Thats the reason for not a whole lot of movement.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

START OF THE THIRD ROUND

With the 65th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft the Houston Texans select

Antonio "Tiny" Richardson, OT, Tennessee

Tiny.jpg

6'6'' - 336 lbs. - 22 years old

Nicknamed "Tiny," Richardson is, of course, quite the opposite at a massive 6-6, 332 pounds.
Richardson signed with the Volunteers as the top overall prep prospect in Tennessee in 2010. He played in every game as a true freshman but didn't log a single start. As such, it surprised many when then-coach Derek Dooley elected to move steady senior Dallas Thomas inside to left guard in 2012 to hand Richardson the critical role of protecting Tyler Bray's blind side. The gamble on Richardson's potential and Thomas' versatility paid off as each earned Second Team All-SEC honors.

Richardson really opened eyes with an outstanding performance against South Carolina All-American pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney in 2012. While he wasn't as stellar in the rematch in 2013, Richardson still displayed the ability to hold his own against the SEC's top pass rushers while being a force in the ground game.

Richardson may possess the deepest and most impressive toolbox of all the tackles in the 2014 class in terms of natural ability and size/athleticism combination. Where he needs to improve is in his technical approach to the position, particularly when mirroring quicker pass rushers, as he too frequently over-relies on his hands and will forget to stay active with his feet.

There's no doubt that Richardson's freakish athleticism and size will draw consideration from NFL teams in the early rounds, but in order to be a first-round selection he must convince scouts that he is committed to improving technically.

STRENGTHS:
Combination of size, agility, patience and power. Shocking athleticism for his size. Well-proportioned with broad shoulders, long arms and tree trunks for legs. Richardson shows surprising quickness and balance off the snap in pass protection, sliding quickly left to properly protect the blind side.
He latches on with strong hands and rides with the pass rusher before settling, squaring his shoulders and sustaining nicely by playing on the balls of his feet.

WEAKNESSES:
Was bull-rushed into the quarterback multiple times in a marquee matchup against Jadeveon Clowney in 2013. Needs to be more technically consistent, as he'll get over-extended off the snap, and will at times stop his feet altogether, when asked to redirect in mirroring counter-moves.

Over-extends at times off the snap and doesn't exhibit consistent patience in pass protection, as he'll often reach to initiate contact when he should first establish his base, and then "catch" his opponent.

COMPARES TO:
Erik Williams, ex-Cowboys -- Like Williams, Richardson is a massive offensive tackle with the ability to re-route pass rushers and be a road-grader in the ground game.

The Washington Redskins are now on the clock.

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

HOW IS SAVAGE STILL ON THE BOARD?!?!?!?!?!

Re: 2014 RCF Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles (howler1313)

At pick 66 the Washington Redskins select RB Bishop Sankey

Similar abilities to Gio Bernard who Gruden worked with last year. The Skins have Helu but he's a FA next off season. This also gives them someone to reduce the load on Alfred Morris and enables them to cover themselves in case of an injury.

Please PM the next dude.
