15th Roster Spot?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
In case they decide to go the backup point guard route - this guy is a thought. Personally, I'd like to see a pure point guard somewhere getting Kyrie off the ball a bit more:

Pablo Prigioni - G - Knicks

The Knicks are reportedly looking to trade Pablo Prigioni.

According to Adam Zagoria, the Knicks would like to move Prigioni for a second round pick as he's not currently part of the rotation and isn't part of the team's future.

While Prigioni's agent said European teams have expressed interest in his client's services if something should happen, the 37-year-old can be dropped in all fantasy leagues at this point.

1 problem with this team is that despite having 15 roster spots we only have about 9 or 10 players. Miller Jones Haywood Harris are basically just taking up spots on the bench for various reasons. They are not players

I don't see the need in adding Ray Allen. Miller and Jones are barely seeing the court now and that will only get worse tomorrow when Shumpert joins the team.

Ray Allen = Talk about duplication of services! And services we are already barely using?!?!

I'd much rather see one of THEM (Miller or Jones) moved for another big or another point guard.

PS - the elephant in the room. Hayward. Talk about a wasted roster spot. I know it's about his contract, but surely there's something that can be done there.

And obviously I am the only one around who thinks he should actually get some playing time. The limited time he's played he seems ok physically to me and I've seen him alter some shots and rebound. Even run the court, he is not out of shape. That's really all we need.

He is only there for the contract but I am not sure if you are over the so called enevelope whether you can use the contract

Always room for a clutch 3pt specialist with championship experience.

LeBron visited Ray before they traded Dion. Relax guys.

Not as much room as a guy who's big with playoff experience - especially on this team.

I'll take Jermaine O'Neal over Ray Allen 10 times out of 10 for this roster. Heck, neither one would see the court unless it was a dire situation. Which situation is more dire right now? Mozgov AND Thompson/Love end up in foul trouble, or you're forced to play Mike Miller/James Jones minutes for a game in the postseason? Which one is more likely?

I think the potential need for another big guy is both more dire and more likely. That makes it a no brainer for me.

If LeBron wants Ray, he'll be here over Jermaine O'Neal. I'd say Ray is more likely. Is a big a bigger need than a SG? Sure. But most championship teams have guys like Ray Allen who can come up big in the clutch. It's necessary in the playoffs.

The people advocating for Ray are completely ignoring the defensive side of the ball. It's just as important to get stops in the playoffs as it is to have a guy hitting a corner 3.

JR and Shumpert can do both, Ray can only do one of those things.

One of the reasons the defense has been improved the last 4 games, is because JR can actually defend. He's not a world beater, but he understands rotations and has active hands. (Does anyone actually miss Dion?)

I thought that old people like to go to Florida for vacations...

I think the Cavs(along with the other contenders) are going to wait until the trade deadline and see what players are available or what players might be bought out etc.

Depending on the health of our roster or what our biggest need is, the Cavs have a number of directions they can go in.

As for Allen, you can never have enough shooters in the playoffs. Opens up the floor and shooters are streaky by nature.

Ideally, I'd like a defensive minded player but if the choice is some random D'Leaguer vs Ray Allen, you take Allen.

I'd probably take the d-leaguer if he was a big with decent mobility and size. Allen is redundant and the only reason I'd be interested in him is to keep him from signing with another playoff team.

Ray Allen's corner 3 percentages his last two years in Miami:

Right Corner: 44%
Left Corner: 42%

I highly doubt we're turning away a guy that proficient, especially for late game playoff situations.

I'd prefer to hang on to the roster spot moving forward but adding a proficient shooter at a league min deal isn't exactly a waste. Delly is the only guy in the rotation shooting above 38% and I can't imagine anyone wants him in the corner shooting an important late game shot.

Mike Miller shot 46% on 3s last year, which didn't prove a very reliable indicator for this year.

At the beginning of the year, I would have added Allen if he had wanted to sign, but now unless Smith or Shump get hurt, or Shump doesn't fit in, I see absolutely no need for him, and even if you do bring him in, I think you should look to get rid of one of the SGs you already have, which isn't easy to do, unless you just waive someone.

I think a big is a bigger need, but a legitimate PG wouldn't be a bad addition. I'm betting the Knicks won't be able to move Prigioni and will end up buying him out, even though he has a small amount of guaranteed money next year. It's a name I would consider. Can run an offense, not turn the ball over, defend a bit (even at his advanced age), and hit the spot up 3.
