15th Roster Spot?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He is likely to get waived if the Knicks can't get someone to take him for a terrible contract. There is a 0% chance the Cavaliers trade for Amare. No safari needed.

Right only way I would add him if he came very very cheap in FA as in he wanted a ring. However I do not think he ego will be in our price range. We will end up with Ray Allen when all is said and done in my opinion.

Amare use to be one hell of a player. In 08 he led the league in true shooting percentage and was scoring 27 a game, grabbing close to 10 boards, and blocking two shots a game. Just an incredible physical specimen. He isn't anything close to that guy anymore, and we just don't need the scoring. If we bring in another big I think he needs to bring something in the realm of what timofey brings. We could use another guy that has size for certain matchups when timofey has to sit. Tristan just gets beat up by larger guys in the post. Another guy that could help out against bigger players would be nice, and amare just doesn't bring that.

I would take Amare in a second (once he cleared waivers).

Even though he's far from his prime, he's still an effective big. He's shooting 55% from the floor, 69% at the rim and averaging 12 / 7 in 20+ minutes per game.

His defense has also been improved this year, as some of his nagging injuries have healed. His block percentage, defensive rating and DBPM have all improved pretty significantly over the past few seasons.

If NYC let him go, I would absolutely love to pick him up. He's a really good P&R player and would be a great fit off the bench. For a late season addition, he's about as good as you could ask for IMO.

We need more guys that can contribute on the court. Mike miller already serves that role for us. We have three veterans on this club that can't really be counted on to produce. That is a lot of space dedicated to good locker room extremely low production guys.

Two holes exists..backupPG and another big.
Those two things are needed going into the playoffs.

Griff needs to find a way to get both without using that Haywood contract unless it's a above..well , a way above average player.

I mean, it doesn't seem reasonable the Cavs would be interested in Amare. They need a more defensive minded guy who will willingly accept his role as 4th big who may not play a lot of nights, and they don't need an egotistical ex-star.

That said, Griffin does have the connection with him from PHX (which may have meant something when the Cavs pursued Marion this summer), and the Cavs will probably add a big at some point. Amare would provide some insurance against Love's bulky back. And despite everything that has happened in New York, Amare has actually been pretty good this year.

I don't think it'll happen, and I wouldn't favor it, unless Love is hurt, but it's one of those things you can't help but think about since it is Amare Stoudemire.

Obviously, no team will trade for him, and so he would only be available after being bought out or outright waived.

Would love to have Mo, but we can't give up a draft pick.

I wonder if Heat don't like Norris Cole anymore because I've heard he is on the block too? Also heard Nate Rob's most likely destination is Clips. I bet we could get Mo Will if we want and I like the return is "minimal" part.

But would it mean giving up Haywood to make salaries match though? Or how can we absorb that type of contract. If we have to give up Haywood, I would like some picks back with it.

None of those teams are good fits. The Heat aren't in any position to give up more draft picks, the Clippers would essentially be admitting that the Austin Rivers experiment was a failure, and the Cavs wouldn't give up much for Mo either.

Sorry for my ignorance. When you say Cavs not giving up much, does that mean just 2nd rounders yes?

Yes. 2nd rounders are as much as I would go, because Mo certainly isn't worth what Haywood's contract is potentially worth. But I'm not sure we have any exceptions left, so it's doubtful we can make a reasonable deal happen.
