2012 Cavs Summer League

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He says he could use all the practice he can get, and he also wants to be there with the new guys both to build chemistry and to help them transition. Good for him

Not to mention he finds this shit fun. I think he would rather ball with his new teammates than sit at home playing video games.

Would outdraw an Indians game the same day.

Nah. No way 18,000 people would show up.

RT @AlexKennedyNBA Undrafted center Micheal Eric will play for the Cleveland Cavaliers' summer league team.

Why are the CAVS aggressive about signing UDFA when they dont seem to care at all about the second round?

Maybe they thought if they can get "top 10 talent" at 17, and "2nd round talent" as UDFA, they would rather do that for cheaper than the 3 other picks. Not sure if i agree with it, but it's their plan, and ours to enjoy (we hope)

Eric is just a summer league invite. No guarantee. They have to fill out a summer league roster. And just because they traded their 2nd round picks doesn't mean they don't care about the 2nd round. They liked Zeller and made a trade. Additionally, they probably knew there would be a couple UDFA's better than people being drafted in the 2nd round. And with Jones, they were right.

Apparently, second round picks were for sale, and we didn't try to get one. And Jones was predicted to go in the second round, so we certainly coulnd't have counted on him being a UDFA. Not to be a downer, but exactly how excited about him could the Cavs really be?

Well they reportedly called him 10 minutes after the draft and the OKC Thunder were going to draft him (but PJ3 fell) and his dumb agent brother (again, reportedly) ticked off some GM's.

I didn't see Jones's name on the table that was posted with our summer league lineup, certainly he would be their playing to build chemistry since we gave him a 3 year deal?

After the last draft I get the impression that Grant wants nothing to do with second rounders and if he can not move the 2nd round pick/s just randomly pick a player that will never be with the organization regardless. 2 rookies is hard enough to include into a teams roster let alone 4. I have no quams with this but I will not watch the 2nd round of the draft for nothing again like last year.:chuckles:

Howtafuck. Props man u called it.

Some were for sale but not all were for sale. Plus they were expensive. Toronto turned down $1.75M and kept the #37 pick in the 2nd round.

That table was posted the day after the draft, and Kevin Jones hadn't been signed at that point.

RT @MarkPorcaro: Summer League Rosters - list I put together over the last 24 hours or so to the best of my abilities. http://secretrival.blogspot.com/2012/07/2012-nba-summer-league-rosters.html

Cavs team:

Michael Eric - Temple (Undrafted FA)
Kyrie Irving - Cavaliers
Kevin Jones - West Virginia (Undrafted FA)
Rob Jones - Saint Mary's (Undrafted FA)
D.J. Kennedy - Cavaliers & Erie (D-League)
Donald Sloan - Cavaliers/Hornets/Hawks
Garrett Temple - Junior Casale (Italy)
Tristan Thompson - Cavaliers
Dion Waiters - 4th pick
Tyler Zeller - 17th pick

BEAST.

Can't wait to see the group of Kyrie, Waiters, KJ, TT, and Zeller on the floor.

This team really needed to bring in a Hollis Thompson because there isn't a single SF on that roster, assuming Gee bows out.
