2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

Reasons not to draft Drummond

1) He averaged 10-8 in college. BIG bust potential.

2) Free Agents in 2013:

-Andrew Bynum
-Brook Lopez
-Dwight Howard
-Al Jefferson

3) Top prospects in 2013:

-Cody Zeller
-Nerlens Noel
-Steven Adams
-Alex Len

I'm not saying that we have a realistic shot at Howard or Bynum, but we will be one of the few teams with a ton of cap room and hopefully those 2 will take the attention off Jefferson, who I would love to land.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

Can't believe how lucky we got.

I am pissed about the Warriors winning their coin flip. I know it doesn't affect us, but the tank they put on was the biggest disgrace I have ever seen. Made our tank look like nothing.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

Drummond is intriguing and will probably drive everyone crazy. Even if he ended up being a dominant defensive presence and just got put backs and dunks he wouldn't be a a bust. Legit centers don't come along that often. I couldn't be too mad at the FO if they went for a pick like this even with the risks.

That said, you know what you're getting with MKG: Athleticism, relentless drive, BBIQ, etc. Wade and Lebron had shitty jumpers when they started too….his floor is pretty damn high. Jason Kidd shoots the hell out of the 3 now and was awful coming into the league. Cherry picking examples, but I couldn't be made at this pick either.

I'm not as sold on Beal as others, but I didn't watch him too much either. Seems like's supposed to be a good shooter but didn't prove it on the court. Good athlete for sure. We certainly need a shooting guard...

#1 is a legit reason.

#3 could be argued, maybe, I guess..... but you really can't change how you draft this year based on the talent coming out next year.

#2 - No. None of those guys will be coming here. You know better.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

I know I shouldn't want Drummond at 3/4, but I just do. Wouldn't be upset in the least if we passed on him. Maybe a bit irked if we took PJIII or Barnes above him (or really, either of them in the top 5 regardless), but hell, what do I know?

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

MKG is my #2, ... he is a world class athlete, world class finisher, world class energy level...that will be hard to pass up.

MKG can defend spots 1-4, he's creative off the ball on offense, rebounds better than many PF's, and he doesn't turn 19 for 5 months. That's why he's #2 in the draft.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

I am unsure how it could be possible to have Drummond any lower than 5.

I could see wanting to take MKG, Beal, and Robinson over him, but anyone else.... Can't see it.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

Let's not forget that Kyrie and Kidd-Gilchrist played HS ball together and won two state titles. The chemistry between the two is already there, and the way Kyrie has elevated his game, I've got to think that the two playing together would quickly become one of the most feared duos in the NBA.

I agree about that flip. But the Warriors tank ended up helping the Cavs. Without it, the Hornets would have finished in 3rd (no tie) and the Cavs in 4th.

The big thing about the GSW pick is it was TOP 7 protected if they had landed at 8 they would have given up their pick to Utah

Jazz receive the Warriors' 2012 first-round pick, via Nets (Marcus Williams trade) (top 7 protected in 2012 and 2013, top 6 protected in 2014. If not received by 2014, Jazz will instead receive Warriors' 2014 and 2016 second round picks) (Deron Williams trade 02-24-11)

with the pointless win over the Nets the Craptors dropped quite a bit

yes, let's overpay for a guy who puts up empty stats on teams who have never went anywhere all the while playing no defense

ya but their flip was against toronto so them winning was good because it brought lolz from the idiots at realgm.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

Whether by chance or not, the conspiracy theorists will have some fuel added to their collective fire with these results.

Here's the results of each coin flip (and conspiracy theorists' bitching that is surely happening around the league)

Cleveland over New Orleans (LBJ pity)
Sacramento over New Jersey (New Jersey loses the pick anyway if they don't get into the top 3, so they threw the Kings a bone)
Golden State over Toronto (Big market out West + a fuck you to Canada)
New York over Dallas (nuff said)
Dallas over Utah (bigger market)
LA Clippers over Atlanta (nuff said)
Lakers/Cleveland over Memphis (bigger market/LBJ pity)
Chicago over San Antonio (bigger market)

And don't get me wrong, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but it is still funny to think about the angles :chuckles:

Get these 2 together. Irving and MKG
