2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I doubt the Cavs have much interest in MKG anymore. Sounds like Davis and Beal were the 2 guys they wanted. I could see them take Barnes over MKG. Matter of fact, MKG may fall out of the top 5 all together.

Where'd all this come from?

MKG is a nice hustle player but can't seem to find a highlight of him hitting a jumpshot ten feet or farther from the rim

He reminds me of Iggy, jack-of-all-trades, solid, not spectacular, great third wheel on a title team...

The video of Moultrie is pretty awesome.

Never seen the kid in action, but based on the fluidity of his game I would have guessed he was the top 5-10 pick and not Perry Jones, and more likely to play the 3.

Good handle, good shot mechanics, great explosion. Total package.

Based on... what exactly? Besides the tweets and stories that have them considering moving up to take the guy, of course.

Moultrie is worth trading up for in my opinion, but I think he will continue to rise all the way up to the draft. Some mocks still have him around 24, but I don't think there's a chance he'll be there.

I do think what appeared to be conventional wisdom only last night has kind of fallen apart today. It does appear that just like last year this is a one man draft. I think after that it is a crapshoot. I think Barnes Robinson and lamb will rise. I think mkg with his hitch will drop as will Beal because of lack of height. Drummond is the great unknown. Every time I think I want the Cavs to draft him I remember that I also wanted them to draft Chris Washburn.

luckily, we really dont have a choice. makes it hard to fuck this one up.

mkg, beal or drummond, whoever isnt taken. youre out of your mind if you do aynthing else.

You are wrong there are other options

Drafting a SG that high is almost like drafting a RB in the first round in the NFL. The position just doesn't carry the weight now a days it did a generation ago.

I would rather have MKG than Beal if possible. Small Forward has become the glamour spot in the NBA right now (as SG was a generation ago), and we need someone that can guard and hang athletically with the Lebron/Melo/Durrant's of the world. SF/PG are the 2 key positions for most teams anymore as far as dominating a game, and we have the PG. Think about it, other than Kobe who are the really "elite" players in the NBA that play that position? It just isn't as important as it once was.

If Beal measures in any shorter than 6'4 I want no part of him at #4 if he is there. He is not an explosive freak athlete, and anything under 6'4 is too short when you don't have excessive athleticism to make up for it. It is particularly a problem when we have a PG who is just average size. We would get killed on the defensive end.

SG and PF are the easiest positions in the NBA to find serviceable players. To think that we would use the #4 pick 2 years in a row on the 2 easisest to fill/least valued positions in the league doesn't bode well for the rebuild because we are still lacking at center and SF going forward. Finding elite players at those isn't always easy, and when you have one you have a major competitive advantage.

I would also add that if Drummond is there and we pass on him we will rue the day. Passing on a center 2 years in a row will come back to bite us as likely this will be the last year we are drafting in the top 5 for the forseeable future. Those positions are hard to fill high in the lottery, much less outside the top 10.

Too many on this board are short sighted about building a championship team. With someone like Drummond you spend a couple years developing them, and then reap the rewards like Orlando did once Howard established himself as a dominator in the paint.

If he is on the board you take him regardless of who else is left. We can find an undersized shooting guard anytime (MKG I could deal with though), but to find a big with Dwight Howard type athleticism who is still only 18 is the type of things that come back and haunt franchises when they are aonly a piece away and it happens to be a center.

We have been through that before trotting out washed up veterans (Z/Wallace/Shaq) when we were on the verge of a title. I am surprised to see that experience (and how hard a position it is to fill) didn't seem to change the minds of many around here who seem disinterested in a legit, young, high ceiling center we could groom (JV last year we also passed on).

anything else is like fucking your cousin, sure, you could do it, but you're not going to.

Agreed, he could be a plug and play type guy who rebounds and does serious damage off a screen and roll with KI.

A Drummond, Moultrie, TT front court is a pretty good three-some to build around with one of the best PGs in the league.

And they haven't even traded AV yet.

Agree that Barnes and Lamb will be on the rise. I think they will both be better than Robinson.

I feel like I have heard that every single position is the most and least important and the easiest and hardest to fill when building a team.

Just knowing that Harrison Barnes is an option makes me sick. I can live with Drummond or Robinson.

To me, Robinson is a lock to at least be a very good player (tier below all-star level).... Like many have said... a David West type..... That is a lock to me. I don't see any bust potential with him.

Drummond on the other hand..... I see huge bust potential. Actually, I think it is likely that he is a bust. But his potential makes him worth that risk. I'd be ok with either.

It would just be nice if we took Valanciunas last year and we could be more excited about Robinson filling a gaping PF hole. Irving, Robinson, Vala would look pretty nice right about now.

I would bet that Barnes, Thompson will be a better combo than Robinson and valanciunas. I know I will get ridiculed for that but I think Barnes may end up being the best pro after Davis in this draft. We will see!

Why is that ridiculous?
