2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Did you not hear Grant in the Press Conference state that their scouts are aware of and tracking all of the top HS and AAU players well before they even step onto a college campus? FWIW, Kyrie(like Kanter) could have probably sat out his entire freshman year and still been the #1 pick or at least top3, based on his measureables, skill set, and past perfromances in HS, AAU, and international tournament competition.

So whether or not a single game of college ball has been played yet, you better believe that GMs and personnel guys for all 30 teams are already stacking and ranking their 2012 draft boards.

And as for us as Cavs fans, considering that this next season, while it may be entertaining and exciting to see the young core grow together, will still be a losing one with major Lottery pick implications, why shouldn't we be already discussing the 2012 draft and prospects?

Not a single minute of the 2011-2012 college basketball season has been played yet. I've heard of premature ejaculation but this is crazy.

Considering 1 or 2 of the guys in the 2012 draft will be core pieces of our franchise, I don't see why we shouldn't discuss it.

Hopefully two ... no idea how we will pry a pick away from anyone though

You know how it goes. People hear a name, get fixated, then their 7-19 games become the most amazing games ever.

It's definitely not too early to look at the 2012 draft. With the average fan preparing to endure another (possibly well) below .500 season, one gains hope by looking at the next year's draft, knowing that those players could possibly bring light to their team.

I have some questions though:

1. Which SF prospect for 2012 draft projects to be the best?
2. Which SG projects out to be the best? Beal? Rivers?
3. If the BPA when it is out turn to pick in the 2012 draft is another PF, do we take him?
4. Will the new CBA change the one-and-done rule to a two-and-done rule, stay the same or maybe get rid of it altogether?
5. Will players (especially US players) want to avoid the 2012 draft because of whatever CBA may be in place for 2012?

My main question is whether or not Rivers can even play the 2. I've always thought of him as more of a PG, but of he can be a 2 than I'm excited to see what he can do.

Also someone mentioned that Drummond might be eligible for the 2012 draft. If that's true than color me excited, it's not often that centers as dominant as he is come around.

I'm praying for Bradley Beal. A backcourt of him and Irving would be phenomenal. Two smart guys who can handle the ball and shoot from anywhere.

the jerking off to Drummond is even worse. up until now, he wasn't even going to be in the next draft and that still might not even happen....yet people have been talking about him going to the Cavs for months.

someone (can't remember exactly who) tweeted a few days ago saying the Cavs were asking for 2 picks for JJ, including an unprotected 2012

it was not by one of their writers and it was prior to the draft, so things could've changed if the original statement was even accurate in the first place. if it is accurate, it's hilarious that they think he'll net an unprotected 2012 pick. sure, maybe from a playoff team.

Are you really surprised at the Drummond hype? The guy has been touted as being as good or possibly better than Dwight Howard. In a league lacking dominant centers of course he is going to get hyped. Especially from us since we suck so hard.

If Drummond is in the 2012 draft than I might just be the most excited man in the world. I actually think I love Andre Drummond, and wherever he goes I will be a big fan of his and want nothing but the best for the team (possibly Miami excluded, possibly).

I agree, no idea how we'll net a second (decent) 2012 pick. It will take a bold, genius move by Grant and company. Doubt it happens. We'll have to make our own pick count, which will hopefully be another top 5.

Well then we better trade Andy, Baron, Jamison, JJ and Sessions quick because it will possibly lead to us getting some good 2012 first rounders (or at least one), and it will also solve the problem of us winning any appreciable amount of games next season.

We have two huge assets going into the next season to land an unprotected 2012 pick. Jamison and possibly the TPE are two of the largest assets n the entire league. Certain teams such as Utah will be over the hard cap if they don't cut the salary of Devin Harris for example. Some teams will need to cut salary and Jamison or the TPE will allow us to help teams with that.

I'm on the Bradley Beal bandwagon. Like everything I've seen from this kid. He seems very intelligent and appears to be the type of guy Grant likes to draft.

Nobody will give us a good 1st rounder (as in, no bad team will give us one) for any of those players. However, you are right, trading them and getting what we can would at least make our team worse and get rid of some of the baggage (Sessions, Jamison, Baron) allowing us to get a high pick again.
