2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If we can get back into round 1 with our 2nd rounders and still get andrew nicholson/fournier I would be happy doing the trade!
We get Beal and Nicholson/Forunier and we have had an outstanding draft!

But if the Cavs like one higher than the other then they should. To me, moving the 24th means nothing. That should not be the deal breaker, if Beal is the guy they really want.

I mean, the Cavs are likely to package both second round picks for a late first anyways. It's no real loss.

I would definitely move up to grab Beal. I've said for awhile I thought he was the clear number 2 guy in the draft.

Nothing against MKG, I'd be fine drafting him, but I much rather have Beal.

Completely agree GF

OKC is probably going to sell their pick. With Ibaka and Harden becoming free agents, they can't afford to pay a rookie who probably won't even crack the rotation.

With Dan Gilbert willing to spend money, I would not be surprised if we end up buying that pick from OKC. So if all of that happens, basically we're trading back four spots to ensure arguably the second best player in the draft. That's hardly throwing away much at all.

If that does not happen, still no biggie to me. The goal is to come out with two solid players in this draft. It's not like that will change if we have to cough up a late first round pick. Two early second round picks in a very deep draft is still not bad. There's going to be a few first round talents that are going to be available with those picks.

Please stop quoting this goof's posts or information. Those of us who have his account(s) on ignore would appreciate it.
the board can't and shouldn't cater to you, sry bro.

I just don't see the point of moving the 24th pick when the Cavs are likely to get one of Beal or MKG. I can't imagine both players getting picked before the 4-spot.
yes but what if they think one (beal, obv) is going to be the noticeably better player and better fit with the cavs? why should a pick that in all likelihood will turn into a role player at best stand in the way of them acquiring said player?

especially when they have two early 2nds, $$ to send in trades, and the ability to absorb a contract w/ a late 1st

This is just me throwing something out there, and I'm not even sure it would be that great of an idea. But just imagine the possibile fun this team could be if it took MKG at 4 and then moved up into the top 10 and took Rivers. Irving, Rivers, and MKG running around the perimiter. That would be a crazy fun team to watch.

If we do make the move up for Beal, then the ideal situation for me would definitely be the rumored GSW trade. Get #7 and snag Drummond to give us a core of Irving, Beal, Thompson, and Drummond. That would be straight nasty.

Does anyone think that Dallas would be willing to give up their pick( I believe it is 17) for our 2nd round picks since they are looking to make room to try and sign D-Will and possibly even try and pick up Dwight Howard?

I might just shut myself off from the draft talk until Thursday. Too many rumors. Driving myself insane.

I'd be surprised if we were able to move to get Drummond. I would be ok with Beal then using the 2nd rounders to get back into the teens and taking another wing like Ross or Harkless

If Beal becomes a multiple all-star, you don't want to look back and say if only we gave up the 24th pick/X player that's just a dime and doze role player in the NBA.

If you think Beal is an all-star in the NBA, you don't let him slip through your fingers.

just curious but why is this only if the cavs move up for beal?

even if they don't, managing to get #7 (hopefully for drummond) seems pretty close to ideal.

honestly no.

the rookie scale for 17 is really insignificant, like $1.2M? or something. but if they wanted to move the pick that badly, they could probably move it for a future 1st which would be a better than two 2nds while still giving them the same amount of immediate cap space.

Eh, I have to honestly say I'm not all that thrilled with the prospect of moving Varejao and the whatever else just in order to get Drummond. Drummond just seems like an almost surefire bust.

I really think Portland's optimal fit is Robinson. He is ready now, good fit with Aldridge. Sacramento will take him, so if draft goes Davis,MKG,Beal...i think something like 4,24 for 6,11 would be more likely. This is if we want Drummond of course.

Portland gets Robinson and maybe a guy like Teague or J Taylor..they can sight Dragic for PG.

We take Drummond and Ross/Lamb. Or we can totally swing for the fences and grab PJ3. IF both Drummond and PJ3 hit we would have a monster front line. We then trade up from 34 to 28, by adding some cash, OKC can draft a stash player. At 28 we take J Taylor or If Q Miller falls you nab him. Then 33 I would grab T Taylor as Backup PG.

Irving,T Taylor
Lamb,Gibson
Miller,Gee
TT,Ilyosova
AV,Drummond

Others I like a lot end of round one are:
Orlando Johnson
Will Barton
Doron Lamb

you really think he's an "almost surefire bust" no matter where he lands?

i mean if sacramento drafts him fine, that projection is understandable (or he could flourish and form the most dominant front court in the league w/ cousins, unlikely tho haha). but the cavs have a lot of things working in their favor - a mature young star, a hc with lots of experience both as coach and player, and really just a good organization overall.

he comes with risk either way, but i think more likely than not where he goes will be the difference between whether he's a stud or a bust...and in cleveland, he'd end up the former.

Though from a fan's perspective it is extremely frustrating to not have any idea who the Cavs will be drafting, it is reassuring to know our front office will maintain leverage during this draft process.

I say we trade up to take Beal AKA Ray Allen and run for it.

A #2 pick would def be a successful tank outcome.
