2012 NBA Free Agents

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Hawes gets over paid then no thanks, but it will take more than one center and Andy is not our future at either starting nor back up center.

How much would you guys pay for Hawes? I think he could end up in the 6-7 million a year range. While many think this could be over paying,. how many big centers have legit range and will be a perfect fit next to Tristan. I am concerned by the back issues though.

I just think he might be a great signing if we feel his back is healthy. Bet him and OJ, trade one of the draft picks, pick MKG or Barnes (depending on where we draft) and use the other 2 picks for depth.

Irving/Sloan
Mayo/Boobie/Harris
MKG/Gee
Thompson/Samuels
Hawes/AV

I could live with that as long as we think Hawes has some upside, and will be around. That would be a fun team to watch.

That second unit would kick some ass.

Still have a late first and 2 early 2nds. One of the early 2nds would be used too. Andy could start at pf, tristan off the bench. Take Tony wroten, quincy miller or even Fab plus 1 or 2 2nd rounders.

My point if we could sign Hawes and Mayo, we would even have more talent than what you are saying, we eventually trade Andy and maybe Boobie and hope some of the other young players develop.

Acquireing guys who can produce on the court or become trade assets is a no lose situation. thats why its important they get contracts right if to whomever they sign

Please throw money for Hibbert. Even the max, idgaf. Dude is a beast.

yeah good ole mayo. the headline today should of been "Mayo drains the life out of grizzlies in his last game with the Grizzlies"

Mayo sucks. I don't want any part of him in our team. Leaving him on the floor for too much in game 7 was Lionel Hollins' biggest mistake.

Depending on what happens with Alonzo Gee, I would consider taking a long look at Landry Fields.

New York is already going to have to pay for Lin (likely the full MLE on matching an offer sheet from another team). I can't see them going very far to retain Fields.

What happened to Mayo between today and his solid rookie season? He looks miserable out there.

I think Hawes would be a bargain at $6-7 million a season. I would do $8 million for the first year, with typical increases after that. The kid just turned 24, and if he can stay healthy, he could be a very big part of our team. I feel like a broken record, but I think Hawes and Courtney Lee are who we should target in free agency.

Irving/Sloan
#3 (Beal)/Lee
Gee/Casspi
Thompson/#24 (Royce White or Moultrie)/Samuels
Hawes/Varejao

Plus we can go BPA with #33 and #34, or try to use them to move up from #24. We would have a solid young core, and hopefully enough of a veteran presence in Varejao and Lee to really start competing in the league. With any luck we will get the Sacramento pick in a few years and have another young piece to add to the puzzle.

For quick reference, here's a list of the free agent signings the Oklahoma City Thunder made the year after they drafted Durant and Green and the summer they drafted Westbrook: _______________.

I think the Cavs are going to rebuild the same way. Maybe we make a move in 2013. But this summer seems too soon.

Agreed. As fun as it is to discuss who would and wouldn't fit our team, I think at the end of the day we are going to have to be patient. Instead of signing Lee/Mayo/Hawes/whoever this summer, I'd rather have a tiny shot at a huge fish after next season.

With Baron Davis' contract still counting towards the floor, the Cavs don't have to spend this summer. I wouldn't expect anything other than veteran depth. I am however expecting a small trade of some sort. Maybe Luke Walton's expiring contract is used to reel in some undesirable contract plus some future asset?

I am not knocking the OKC method, but the organization has said that they want to compete, so do not be surprised if they go after a free agent or two if they have the chance. Honestly, I see us making the Playoffs next season if we are healthy, so adding a couple of solid free agents could really help our young guys get some legit playoff experience.

I want to make the playoffs but at the same time I feel like we are one more high pick away from being where we want be in the future. Now if the cavs have the chance to get that pick this year then go all in and do it and let's get going.
