2012 NBA Free Agents

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's simply not that good. Not a great athlete, bad defender. He's maybe a 3rd tier player. If he's not the answer why bother?
He can score, he can stretch the defense, and he is an average to good rebounder. Hawes is not elite by any means, but he is still only 24 years old, and he would be a good fit with Varejao and Thompson. Again, at the right price, why not take a good look at him?

If we got Hibbert, we would be an Immediate playoff team. Here's why:

1. He's a top 5 big man
2. Hard to match up with him
3. Trade AV for a position we need more
4. Hibbert is a try-hard (in a good way)
5. He could attract more FA's
6. He shoots the mid-range all right(ish)
7. Dominates the paint and the boards
8. We would keep all of our picks (because he's a FA and we wouldn't have to trade for him.
9. I think that with Kyrie, our picks, TT, and Gee, we are as good of a team as the Pacers. IMO

Put it this way...we sign Hibbert..Varejao HAS to be traded. You mention that, trade him for a position we need more..Where would he go? If we keep all our picks and THEN trade Varejao..how is Varejao going to help in a position needed..unless you are referring to getting another pick for next years draft. We didn't draft Thompson last year with our #4 pick to just have him sit on the bench so that Varejao plays PF. With all our picks, we will be getting Beal, MKG or Barnes..so atleast SG or SF will be filled with our #4 and our other 2012 picks should fill the remaining holes...meaning PG, SG, PF and C (Hibbert signs with us) or PG, SF, PF and C are filled (depending on who we draft at #4). It would be wise to trade for Rudy Gay or OJ Mayo depending on who we draft.

No offense, but what is the point in talking about Hibbert, Indiana would be crazy not to match a max offer sheet.

Really? You do realize a max contract starts at 16 million..

Hibbert averaged careers highs this year of 13 & 9. He is the perfect example of a guy that would get the max and it would instantly be regretted by the team that gives it to him.

Just because we have money, doesn't mean we need to spend it. Another year of sucking is on the horizon, and that's the way it should be.

In 2013, you have the ability to offer 2 max contracts to guys like Harden and Al Jefferson - that is what the goal is. Not to drastically overpay Roy Hibbert.

Al Jefferson? Lol why? Dude is lazy, and although has a nice post-up game, is soft as fuck in the paint, offensively and defensively.

I'd rather have Hibbert.

This is why I love our Euro friends. They understand Euro basketball far better than anyone on here and give us great insight into something we just dont genearly get.

Thanks for telling us about Mirza, he does sound like he is worth a shot. Adriano, can you tell us what his game is like? Some stats? is he a shooter? ball handler? athletic? You mentioned he is long, but I am just curious.

Well today I heard about contract situation, that is the most important thing, well NBA team can offer 500 000 dollars, but his team Caja Laboral want 2 millions (Euros) and there is possibility that Mirza buy his contract and come to NBA as free agent, coz he said that he want to play in NBA, and Brooklyn Nets are very interesting in him.

Now about his game, he is great 3 point shooter, one of the best in Europe, if not best, than sure he is in top 3, but I don't know better 3 point shooter than him. He is very strong player, very physical player and he is athletic, but he doesn't use his athleticism very much, coz he is great shooter, and like there is very very strong defence, he just save his energy and he is not attacking basket very often (he is agressive, but not as much as I want him to be). He is average defender, it seems like he is a little bit lazy in defence, maybe coz he is best player of his team, so he feel that he is a star there and that everyone else will defend for him (that is Europe :D). He is good guy to have his presence at locker room, very calm, humble and it seems like he doesnt talk very much.

Here are stats (this season):

Sorry, my English sucks, I hope you understand what I wanted to say bro.

Edit: I forgot to say that he is clutch, he scores many game winners, he is average 18 ppg (Spain and Euroleague) and in Europe is very difficult to score 18 points per game, because defence is a lot different than in NBA, not so possible to score transition points, fastbreak points etc. Most of the time, there is zone defence, a lot of movement in defence, but he is able to score 3's so he is able to break down that type of defence. I think that he can be even better at NBA level, coz he can run the floor, hit the open 3's, attack the basket etc. and he is still young, is 26 years old.

Keep calm and let the kids develop before thinking to sign any major free agent.

Max deal though? Hibbert's career high is 13 PPG. When the ratio of millions of dollars to points is worse than 1:1, it's never good.

Hibbert deserves a Varejao contract, not a max.

If you aren't high on Jefferson, that's fine. Keep in mind next year's Center Free Agent Class:

1) Dwight Howard
2) Al Jefferson
3) Andrew Bynum
4) Brook Lopez

Add in a crazy-heavy center draft next year, and it's foolish to hand out 9 figures to Roy Hibbert this summer.

I thought Brook Lopez was this year. But regardless of that. Bynum and Howard might swap teams, maybe stay put. Howard, who knows with him anymore. But I like Jefferson. Hes big, strong, and when he tries, does work. Worth a contract like Varejao. Maybe they sign Big Al, and we trade Andy and a 2013/2014 second rounder?

Brook is a restricted FA this season, you are right.

I am not really concerned with Howard because he is made up of the same mental psyche as LeQuit. I don't think he would come here even if we were to make him offer, but he is a POS attitude wise.

Bynum is not as bad as Howard, but he seems to disappear for long periods of time. I would take him, but I don't see it happening.

Jefferson is my favorite of the group. I would easily hand out 2 max contracts to he and Harden in 2013.

More news about Mirza Teletovic, I almost cried because i am happy for read that Nets, Cavs, NYK and Suns are interested to sign him. He will be in summer league this year, where i hope he shows to Cavs that we should sign him. Damn i would be so happy if that happened. I think NYK dont have money to sign him, Suns are aging for Mirza, and Nets will just stay without D-Will, so Cavs makes perfect sense for Mirza.
Bosnian player in my favourite NBA team, that would be like dream come true. GO CAVS GO!!!

Doesn't matter what he deserves. Even if you believe he doesn't deserve it, he's a legit 7 footer, so he's going to get more than he deserves.

His scoring, rebounding (including offensive rebounding), blocks, and steals have improved each year he's been in the league.

He's improved his post moves & his face up game.

Also, he's yet to average 30 minutes per game for a season. Per 36, he's averaging 16 & 9 for his career and averaged 15.5 & 10.6 this past season.

He just averaged 11.7, 11.2, and 3.1 (blocks) in the postseason in 31 minutes per night.

He's going to get the Max, if not pretty damn close.
