2012 NFL Draft Rumor Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
it sickens me how they say H & H are such garbage on the OBR forums. they're idiots. you can't make up for 9 odd years of trash in 2 years. We only have 3 players drafted before H&H on this team. 3 players from the 1999-2010 still on this team. thats insane.

tony grossi saying that the eagles really want tannehill and would be willing to trade up to take him. cleveland would be a possible trade partner. grossi saying that the eagles would give up #15 and 47 and 51.

would you guys trade that far down?

If they're only including 47 & 51? Nah.

It'd be a ton of picks in the Top 51, but we won't get a top of the draft talent unless somebody has a huge slide down.

I'm not opposed to a trade down, but not that far (unless they up the ante)

why do the eagles need tannehill so bad? they could get osweiler or lindley in the later rounds and still accomplish the same without having to relinquish half their draft picks

Reid likes mobile Qb's.

That is legitimately so much bullshit. "Their route tree was so much more complex."

Okay b00bie..

I still agree Weeden isn't a good pick, but you can't use the offense argument after you were so against me using it on RGIII, you're just being biased as shit.

It's really not.

You're basically saying all teams who run the spread have the same playbook, which is untrue.

once you trade down he's gone (i don't buy Tampa and even St. Louis passing on him)...so if your only reason to stay in the top 10 is Trent i doubt he'll be there anyway.

if the Eagles add a 2013 2nd rounder i would do the deal....i'm sorry i love Trent but with all those picks we could build a dynasty

Do the rams really need him?

You can't count wins and losses in the later rounds by who is a pro-bowl caliber player. The majority of your team is going to be depth/special teams/solid starters. Hence, the latter part of the draft is often used to make that happen.

Colt McCoy (3) is an above-average back-up QB from the 3rd round = depth
Shawn Lauvao (3) is an improving starter at RG = starter
Larry Asante (5) = bust
Clifton Geathers (6) = not on the Browns/bust
Carlton Mitchell (6) = bust. Can't see him turning a corner now. (Hope he does)
Eric Hagg (7) = Played in 10 games last year. Looked decent. Value found here.
Jason Pinkston (5) = Starting LG. Improved vastly last year, played all 16 games. Gem.
Buster Skrine (5) = Nickel CB. Played in all 16 games last year. 1 pick. Definite value here.
Owen Marecic (4) = Starting FB. Disappointing year last year, but expected to bounce back this year. Incomplete.
Jordan Cameron (4) = Developmental TE. Played in his 2nd year at TE last year. Jury still out, but immense potential. Incomplete.

Everyone drafted by the current front office in the 1st and 2nd rounds are solid players on the team currently, less Hardesty.

Late rounds don't sound like such a weak suit of this current front office.

Do we really consider 6th or 7th round picks busts? The chances of players making it in these rounds aren't high. At what round do we cut off the word bust?

Hypocrisy at its finest from the one and only b00bie. Just watch both teams, RGIII had the option and the threat of him running which helped him, in college, you basically see all the same route trees, just watch RGIII's QB camp with Gruden and Weedens. You only say it because you like RGIII and hate Weeden.

I agree with Jigo here. That's a ridiculous statement. Edge went to Arizona at the end of his career and was ok. Guess what, exact same thing happened to Emmitt Smith. Is he a bust?

Reggie Bush- effective player but not what people thought (every down back, dynamic playmaker)
Ced Benson- Was a bust in Chicago but went to Cincy and became an above average back. Not worth a high pick but his talent on the field once he got his head straight was very solid. Character problems derailed his career.
Thomas Jones- 10,000+ yds over 12 years. Yea I disagree here too
Edgerrin James- c'mon man
McFadden- True difference maker but injuries are disrupting his career. Can't blame people who get injured without a history of injuries. Still can be back and be great
Cadillac Williams- Had a good rookie year (1100 yds) but after that he hasn't been good. Here you can make an argument.

Take Edge out and Jones.

Add Ronnie Brown for all his injury problems.

And looking back at draft histories because I was curious, the following running backs were taken in the Top 7 since 1999: Darren McFadden, Adrian Peterson, Reggie Bush, Ronnie Brown, Cedric Benson, Cadillac Williams, LaDainian Thomlinson, Jamal Lewis, Thomas Jones, Edgerrin James, and Ricky Williams. That's a decent track record. The Browns had the opportunity to draft several of those guys, most notably Peterson, Thomlinson, Lewis and James. We're bound to get something special with Richardson. Let's finally get a perennial Pro Bowler that the city can identify with that isn't a lineman or a punt returner.

5/10 aren't busts and I'm not counting McFadden until he stays healthy.

Random question: How would Tim Couch fare on the current Browns roster?

One thing is clear. Regardless of what the Browns say about McCoy, they really don't have much faith in him as a starter. Calling about Bradford, trying to get RG3, looking at Flynn, and scouting Tannehill and Weeden heavily. I really think one of Tannehill or Weeden will be a Brown. I think the Browns are looking at WR, RB, and QB. And I think they are looking for the best combination.

Tannehill, Martin, and Randle?
Richardson, Weeden, and Randle?
Blackmon, Martin, and Weeden?
Etc

Seems like what is going on IMO.
I'd expect an OT in the third.

I don't need 3 plays from a TV segment, you can watch every throw by both QBs from specific games on YouTube.

Oklahoma States offense and Baylors offense are clearly different, and it's a fact that really isn't debatable.

Same with Weeden's arm strength, which you continue to call poor which is flat out wrong.

He might actually have developed into a top 10 Qb if this had been the expansion team. As bad as the team is, it is still significantly more talented than the first few years teams. I think the only thing that remains to be seen is whether he was up to living with the fame of being in the NFL. Without all the pressure he had on him; #1 overall, playing in Cleveland, trying to lead on an expansion team, and then Butch Davis' ego, he may have had a lot better chance at success. There's no pressure on this team by comparison.

NFL Draft Rumor: Browns and Eagles talking deal?

April 13, 2012 By Craig Lyndall 1 Comment

A rumor sourced to Tony Grossi all over Twitter indicates that the trade winds are blowing as we move closer to the draft. The meat of the rumor has the Eagles looking to move up to #4 presumably to take Ryan Tannehill. The Eagles have the 15th pick in the draft and also numbers 46 and 51 in the second round.

For the Browns, it takes them out of the running for guys like Richardson, Blackmon and of course, Tannehill. If it happens the Browns will have five picks in the top 51 which could allow them to fill more spots. It also gives them the bullets to trade back into the first round if they choose to go that route.

The trade being rumored does work out on the cliche, but presumably antiquated “NFL Draft Pick Value Chart.” Hopefully if the Browns do trade down they will pit the Eagles and a team like maybe the Dolphins against each other to really maximize the haul.

WFNY/Grossi.... I'd kill myself if this happened. Heckert is just trying to help out his former team and not his current.
