Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III on Tuesday is informing Baylor coach Art Briles that he has decided to turn pro, according to a family source, and an announcement is imminent.

The Heisman Trophy winner's next task is to choose an agent and he is in the process of finalizing his choice of representatives, which could come as early as Tuesday night.

The deadline for underclassmen to formally petition for the NFL draft is this Sunday.

Griffin is projected as a top 10 pick and several personnel men believe he could go high as the first or second choice depending upon his pre-draft workouts and evaluations.

Baylor this season matched a school record with 10 wins and won its last six games, including a record-breaking 67-56 victory over Washington in the Alamo Bowl. Griffin was the nation's most efficient passer, throwing for 4,293 yards with 37 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He ran for 699 yards and 10 more scores.

Griffin, who arrived at Baylor in January 2008 after graduating high school a semester early, got his undergraduate degree in political sciences in December 2010 and is working on a masters in communication.

Griffin, who played this season as a fourth-year junior, has another of year of eligibility remaining at Baylor because he got a medical redshirt after he tore the ACL in his right knee in the third game of the 2009 season.

In 41 games for the Bears, he has completed 800 of 1,192 passes (67 percent) for 10,366 yards with 78 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He has run for 2,254 yards and 33 TDs and set at least 46 school records.

I definitely agree that Kolb should only be an option as a FA if he is cut by Arizona, and at that point he should only be a backup competing with McCoy. Kolb's footwork looked terrible in Arizona, and how you manage to screw up essentially the same offense that went to the Super Bowl under Kurt Warner is beyond me.

I guess an argument can be made that after losing Todd Haley the OC position was a problem in Arizona... but when I see a team with a decent line, Larry Fitzgerald, and Beanie Wells, I wonder why they can't at least be in the middle of the pack with Kolb under center.

Mort reporting RG3 is IN.

I have a feeling none of the teams will trade up for RG3 because they know we have more firepower that St. Louis or Washington will like more than any package Miami or Washington offers

I disagree. First off, other teams aren't just going to leave the phone on the hook assuming the Browns are moving up. Second, everyone keeps talking about all of our trade firepower, and yeah we have a second first round pick... but I don't see us giving that up to move up one or two spots for a guy with concerns that have been outlined. I think someone will trade up to 2 to take RGIII, and the Browns will be better off for it, as it would likely leave us with Blackmon. Now if you're right and nobody trades up, and RGIII is sitting there at 4, I think we take him.

Ryan Tannehill reportedly won’t play in Senior Bowl

Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill is perhaps the biggest beneficiary of Matt Barkley and Landry Jones’ decisions to return to school.

The talented, high ceiling prospect looks like the third quarterback in this draft, with some analysts believing he could go as early as the top ten picks.

He was a player we were looking forward to seeing at the Senior Bowl, but it appears he won’t be there. Tony Pauline of SI.com and DraftInsider reports that Tannehill suffered a “significant” foot injury that will prevent him from practicing in Mobile.

I would write more, but it’s confusing to mix draft hype with playoff hype and my brain is feeble.

Well that really puts a damper on potential QB prospects. I wanted to get some more info on the kid. I didn't know he's a former WR and has only been under center a couple years.

Tannehill was a High School QB, recruited as a QB but had the skill set to be a WR so he was moved there. He was a pretty good WR too. He was moved back to QB midway through the 2010 season. In all, he only started 20 games a college QB. That's a red flag when you talk about college QBs. There is a correlation between a limited number of college starts and busts in the NFL.

Those of you proposing to pass up on RGIII in return for a few extra picks or so perfectly exemplifies the logic that has landed us in last place for 13 seasons.

I'm sick and tired of dicking around in the late-first round, second round, free agency, and through trades for Quarterbacks. Take Griffin at 4. Move up if you have to.

Draft your frickin' franchise QB, once and for all. Way too many people still haunted by the memory of Tim Couch, if you ask me. The argument for guys like Tannehill? Give me a break. Tannehill is a fraction of the prospect Griffin is. Get this guy.

This is it for me. I think I'm scared for the Browns to pull the trigger because QBs never seem to work for us. I don't want to sell the farm for any QB. Our picks elsewhere have been solid to this point, and a miss of those proportions would really screw us. I definitely think RG3 is great, but I only want him at our pick.

So for discussions sake I brought Tannehill into this. He certainly isn't anywhere near RG3.

I feel your pain. However, at this point in my life, I feel RGIII is worth the risk. His upside is through the roof. If he busts, it won't be any different than the past X number of years of crap we've had to watch. At least we will have taken the chance. Teams like Carolina and Detroit have turned their franchises around with QB prospects.

Sure, there have been misses. But there also haven't been two QB prospects this highly rated in the past decade and possibly earlier. Which is why I feel waiting another year or so (or even later in the 2012 draft) for a quarterback will be a missed opportunity of epic proportions.

I get you're point, but you have to consider the counter-argument, which has two parts:

1. What quarterback would produce results with our current offense? Some would say nobody. If we picked Blackmon, picked a RT with the other 1st, and signed an additional WR via Free Agency... we could see what we really have at QB, and decide at the end of the year that either we currently have our guy, or we need to draft him with our 1st rounder next year.

2. You only give up multiple firsts (or anything of significant value) for someone who you are convinced is THE guy. Can you say that for sure about RGIII? I don't know what H&H think, but I guess we'll see.

The worst possible outcome would be giving up big time picks to move up two spots for RGIII, only to have him blow because his receivers never get open, and when they do they drop passes.
