Hopefully I will be making changes to this tomorrow, other than the Royals record.

Hosmer is the real deal over there in KC.

Acta needs to play with the order a little bit.

    1. Kipnis (provides better AB's than Brantey)
    2. Asdrubal
    3. Santana
    4. Hafner
    5. Choo
    6. Duncan
    7. Kotchman
    8. Hannahan
    9. Brantley

    Positives:

    - Jack Hannahan (.313) and Shelley Duncan (.294) are hitting pretty well.
    - The Tigers finally lost today
    - The Indians scored 6 runs today
    - The Tigers started 3-7 last season

That's all I have today :chuckles:

In all seriousness, hopefully they start to turn it around next series. The next 12 games are against Kansas City, Oakland, and Seattle, all teams expected to finish below .500. The Indians need to start bringing this thing together before they put themselves in a hole too deep to dig out of.

Assuming the Indians stay in this thing, I'd love to see them target Carlos Quentin in San Diego. Righty, hits lefties exceptionally well, knows the Central.

It's as if the Indians are only allowed to acquire left handed hitters.

We replace Sizemore's weak arm in CF with perhaps the only guy in baseball with a worse one

Damon wasn't terrible last year, and he's a better leadoff option than Brantley

He batted .261/.326/.418 with 16 homers, 73 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 150 games last year for the Rays and could be useful, anything better leading off than Brantley at this point will make me happy.

    I really like this move.

    1) He's a left-handed hitter but actually hits LHP just as good as he does RHP. He'll form a nice platoon partner with Shelley Duncan.

    2) He can lead off

    3) By most accounts, he's a great "clubhouse guy" and a team leader, which I think this young team really needs.

    VS RHP

    CF-Brantley
    SS-Cabrera
    RF-Choo
    C-Santana
    DH-Hafner
    LF-Duncan
    1B-Kotchman
    2B-Kipnis
    3B-Hannahan

    VS LHP

    LF-Damon
    SS-Cabrera
    RF-Choo
    C-Santana
    DH-Hafner
    1B-Kotchman
    2B-Kipnis
    3B-Hannahan
    CF-Brantley

Damon isn't sitting vs. RHP if this move makes any sense.

Brantley would have to be getting sent down, or Cunningham DFA'd.

    Maybe both.

Can Damon play CF regularly anymore? He played 0 games there in 2011, 4 games in 2010, 0 games in 2009, and 34 games in 2008.

He has an out clause whenever Grady comes back. Not sure if I like that one.

What about when Sizemore goes back on the DL three days later?

Eh, he's just getting older, but I guess we can use all the bats we can get?

I still don't see us going anywhere since we're leaving runners on base at a ridiculous rate just like last year.

    Rosenthal with more information:

Source: Damon deal with #Indians will include out clause that will allow him to depart on specified date after Grady Sizemore returns. Sizemore underwent back surgery on March 1 and is expected to miss 8 to 12 weeks. Damon deal with #Indians also will include full no-trade.

MLBTR throws in their two cents:

Damon, 38, figures to step into Cleveland's left field situation as soon as he's ready to join the team. Shelley Duncan has started all five of the Indians' games in left, but he's best deployed as the right-handed half of a platoon. A fit between the Tribe and Damon seemed natural for most of the offseason. Just 277 hits away from 3,000 for his career, Damon hit .261/.326/.418 with 16 homers and 19 steals for the Rays last season. He has played fewer than 400 total innings in the outfield over the last two years, but he has appeared in at least 140 games in each of the past 16 years. The Indians tried to acquire Bobby Abreu a few weeks ago, presumably for the same role Damon will fill.

Edit: Sorry, some of you beat me to it on the 1st part.
