Do Not Sell My Personal Information
well at least we don't face Liriano tomorrow

another marginal lefty can thwart us

at least we finally rid ourselves of Cunnigham

Well shit.

Tigers lost at least... but Chicago keeps winning.

Better get our shit together. Now.

wake up there is nothing to get together.... this team is not winning a title. as constructed.

I was waiting for the legendary Trollasaurus Rex to make his one post a month about how we should all pack it in. Christ, Jigo is more entertaining than you, and that's because he knows to post images of building implosions.

Not really trolling when I have been right all year. Team is average and FO did not make any effort to add talent in a so called contending window season. They are no0t going anywhere this season. Look at the FO moves since the offseason of 2007, you may catch on to a pattern if you look close enough.
Those are facts.. live with it.

It is called the standings. 3rd place and 9 games below .500 since they swept the Tigers and were in first Place in Early June. Also since 2001 one playoff birth in a weak to mediocre division. You can get angry at me all you want, but your anger would be better served towards an organization that let you down when they had a chance to make the team better in the off season, but decided that bringing back a crippled Sizemore was enough to contend. Sorry, but I will continue to be proven right from now to the end of the season. Deep inside you know the front office failed you... Does not make you any less of a fan when you finally decide to openly admit it.

Shouldn't you be in the three-way trade thread pretending a superstar is going to sign with the Cavs via free agency?

Good luck with that.

What does the Cavs attempt to bring in Bynum have to do with poor offseason moves and years of mediocre baseball? Horrific argument.
I am a former Season ticket holder, who spent a ton of money and time on this team when I thought they were striving for greatness.
I would love it if the Tribe was 20 games over .500 and made great decisions in the front office, but that is not happening. They deserve credit for the talent they put together in 2007, but the front office has laid an egg since and anyone with any type of talent evaluation can see it. NOt only have they laid an egg but they are content with being average, and that is why so many of us have stopped following them ion an every day basis. Deny all you want, this is not a championship organization.
You want to pretend otherwise that is fine, but dont expect educated fans to take you seriously!

You're definitely an educated fan, huh?

:chuckles:

Are there any teams in this market who haven't been consistently mediocre? I don't think so...maybe the Twins many moons ago?

You're so much smarter than to follow a mediocre franchise wherever they go.

But Go Cavs! Go Browns!

Shapiro has pulled off a few impressive trades , but the overall results on the field its no wonder people are staying away in droves. some baseball purist defend Shapiro's run , however the continued mediocrity of our farm system and absence of any drafted players who have significantly contributed at the major league level speaks volumes about Shapiro.

People forget Shapiro was one of the main architects of the 90s teams along with John Hart.

I don't want to debate who is an educated fan . . . I am fan who will follow and root for the team even with current ownership and front office. I will judge the team by their success on the field, the development of the farm system and their engagement of the casual fan . from my perspective they have failed on all three fronts.

I don't think they strive for mediocrity but I question their track record of talent evaluation given the results at the major and minor league level.

I continue to be a fan and try to be an optimist. it remains hard given the product.

So you admit the sport is broken.. I agree, would love to see a salary cap. Problem is owners like Dolan are happy with the revenue sharing system because it allows them to make a small profit despite poor attendance and a clear loss of competitive advantage to the New Yorks of the world. If enough of the "Dolan owners" cared about competitive balance maybe they would not have been so quick to endorse the last CBA. You have basically said it is okay not to have a championship contender due to how poorly the league is structured. Yet you are mad at fans for not filling up the park. So if the Dolans fail, you dont hold them accountable because of the system. Yet you called Cleveland fans idiots for not supporting a team and ownership that is happy to play under these "broken rules" You can't have it both ways.. and the fans have spoken and they are not buying the BS you are spewing.

in my mind , John Hart was crucified by some after he left, while IMHO Shapiro has been given a free pass or at least a horribly long rope

even under the financial constraints Shapiro has had to work with under Dolan , some of the decisions and the on field results speak for themselves

I don't know why some of you even watch the Indians. It seems all you try to do is tell everybody that the Indians have no shot at ever winning and we should all celebrate the joys of being mildly in contention come late summer because that is all a small market team can possibly hope for.

Small market teams have to load up for small windows of contention and then tear it back down. The Tribe doesn't do that. They straddle the fence. 2007 was the perfect time to put the chips in the middle. You had 2 Cy Young caliber pitchers, one of whom you knew was on his way out. You had a pen that was pitching over it's head with about 3 guys who were lights out every appearance. Do they go out and bring in another high quality starter? A big stick to help a mediocre offense? Nah. A platoon outfielder on his last legs.

Last year you give up top prospects for a win now pitcher. Over the winter they follow that up by picking up players out of the bargain bin. It makes no sense. If you aren't ready to spend what it takes to go for it, don't trade away your best prospects. Are you trying to win now or build for the future? You can't do both in this market. Pick a plan and go with it. If you don't, you get what we have now. A team that is good enough that fans will kill you for selling, but bad enough that it makes no sense to buy.

At some point they are going to have to pony up the cash for a couple of seasons to make a serious run at a ring and then strip it down. Either that, or they better start drafting and developing like Tampa and I don't see that happening any time soon.
