2013-14 Ohio State Basketball Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
OSU got a very favorable bracket in Syracuse and a potentially Embiidless Jayhawk squad. Don't think they take advantage of it though. The offense is terrible, and I'm not expecting Matta to make whole sale rotation changes and trying to fix it.

Syracuse is literally the worst matchup Ohio Sate could have gotten in second round. Brutal match-up for a team that can't shoot or rebound well.

Syracuse also has scored 63 or less in 10 of their last 11 and is facing the 4 team in adjusted D in OSU. We could realistically score 50 and still win.

The problem besides our obvious lack of outside shooting, is that Syracuse will feast on the offensive glass. Q gets away with playing the 4 against non rebounding teams...I don't see that happening here. The other big thing as it pertains to our porous offense, is to beat Cuse you need a skilled big to be able to flash middle and make a play upon reception. You can try and use Ross in that role but that means you're taking him off the perimeter where he's most comfortable. And besides Ross, I can't think of a single player on OSU's roster that can hurt Syracuse in the middle. This is where we will desperately miss DeShaun.

And unfortunately, Cuse's zone is typically ripe for the picking for offensive rebounds, but I don't see Ohio State being able to exploit that. On paper, our weaknesses and strengths play right into their favor. Assuming Cuse and OSU meet up which is a big assumption, I think Cuse will be a 6-8 point favorite. Jordan Sibbert would be a nice weapon against that zone...

That's also true for Syracuse as well. It's strength vs weakness for both teams. A team like Michigan who can just shoot 3's over us seems like a much worse matchup. I'll take a matchup vs a team as offensively inept as we have been.

Didn't want to start a new thread.. but at work, where is the best place to watch March Madness games on the internet?

expecting Sibert to have a big game today

This game has got me real nervous.

Quite frankly I have no idea how they're winning, all I know is Jordan Siberts perimeter game would be nice to have.

Assuming he wouldn't be buried on the bench

Craft can't make an important free throw to save his life.
