Eric (Cleveland)

Hearing Rocket's getting offers for Thomas Robinson. Cavs offered No.19 and the Bulls offered No.20. Is Cleveland a good spot for T-Rob?

Chad Ford (1:46 PM)

Both are solid spots. He doesn't start in either place, but it's solid value for their picks. If the Rockets get pick 19 or 20, they'll likely select an international player.

I'm on the Thomas Robinson bandwagon. Would love to have him in Cleveland.

DID The Bullshit Whisperer JUST DO ACTUAL REPORTING?!?!?

It seems like it, but I keep waiting for someone to inform us that this is some next level meta joke having something to do with an obscure LL Cool J lyric

Chad Ford just responded to one of my questions regarding T-Rob. I feel special lol.

So if we're on the verge of getting Thomas Robinson for #19, does this mean that Noel and Len are no longer in consideration for #1?

Thomas Robinson for a late first rounder is a great deal. He's a solid player.

I don't think T-Rob makes any difference to our thinking with the #1 pick at all. Might push Speights out the door though.

Also, I wonder if this means the Cavs are not high on their chances to move up to 13 from 19 + having to take on a large salary or if it just means they grade Robinson out as better than anyone they could get in the 13 to 19 range.

Robinson, if he plays well, can become an important piece as the first big off the bench or as another high upside chip in a larger deal come the trade deadline or next summer.

I wonder why teams are giving up on Robinson so quickly? Coming out of college it looked like the guy could really play. He manhandled (an albeit crippled) Jared Sullinger.

As for Bennet being 6'7, that's still taller than his UNLV predecessor Larry Johnson and Barkley for that matter. Sullinger held up pretty well win healthy for an undersized PF. There are others (Corliss Williamson, Glenn Davis, etc) If you can play, you can play.

Seems a bit redundant though. Would acquiring Robinson preclude them from drafting Bennett? Maybe that opens the door for Oladipo, McLemore or Porter?

I was thiniing it definitely takes out the possibility of Bennett, but Noel and Len would still be in the picture.

Not at all. Robinson might actually fit better starting with Noel in the long run than Thompson. Time will tell. But it could also mean the Cavs are still working hard on trying to trade for an all star forward and might just flip Robinson before he even plays for the Cavs. Conversely, they might feel better about flipping Thompson if Robinson is in the fold. Lots of options.

I would be alright with Thomas Robinson if they decide to pick him up, but Thomas Robinson shouldn't preclude the Cavs from drafting any of the guys at the top of the draft.

Robinson could be insurance for including TT in a deal for _____. Just sayin'.

Edit:

But you don't pass up the opportunity to get a talented big for peanuts.
