2013 NFL Draft thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah Logan Thomas looks like shit relative to the hype I've been hearing about him. Moreover, Barkley looks rather underwhelming when facing capable defenses. He looks amazing against inferior talent when his wide receivers have no one within ten yards of them. Tyler Bray has a nice upside; however, he needs to be more accurate consistently. I LOVE Geno Smith as a prospect, probably my favorite quarterback eligible for 2013. If the new brass next year doesn't see a quarterback they like, I'd be cool with them taking an impact player at another position. Rush end or outside linebacker, or hell, even another corner.

I still see OG as a need also - I don't have faith in Lava to reach a high level of play although our offensive line looked very improved during the Cinci game. I'm not writing him off but I will be watching him very closely for the season.

I'm really hoping Jabaal Sheard comes back from being MIA the first two weeks, I can't help but think of Kamerion Wimbley who had a real nice rookie season then offensive tackles realized he only had 1 move after seeing some film on him. Hope he's not a one-trick-pony. Again, not writing him off but I hope his production becomes noticeable soon, because he looked real, real good last year for a rook.

Man you could go on and on about our needs. I'll give it a rest because I don't want to sound like I'm ranting.

Tough break for this great QB prospect.

Good, he lost me a shit ton of money when I bet on Vandy to beat Northwestern last week. Fuck this guy.

Don't bet against the 'Cats. Northwestern is the only team has beaten three teams from power conferences this year. Obviously, you didn't know that week 2, but Fitz is taking us all the way this year. Sorry for the distraction.

Hagg sucks.

I wouldn't go that far. At times he is great and at others, he's pretty bad.

He's a young and improving player who could get a lot better. But we could also use a playmaker at his spot.

Hagg is a nice guy to have for depth in the secondary.

Nobody will ever confuse him with someone who is an above average starter at the NFL level.

OK, JMcCurry might confuse him....but very few others would confuse him for an above average starter at the NFL level.

I'm putting every single WR that will be available up there before I draft anything else. Get Weeden some more weapons, and our offense will be unstoppable.

Worst thing that you could possibly do if you're the GM for this team. Good thing for us, our GM knows this and he won't draft WR with our first pick unless they clone Megatron and declare him eligible for the draft.

I do think that defensive stud is our biggest need. However, pass rusher isn't totally nessisary. We have been putting on incredible pressure so far this year. We need an elite run stopper or another stud CB.

While our pass rushing has looked pretty good so far, we don't have that one guy who draws extra attention. We're getting it done with high motors and scheme. We may have some turnover in the front office at the end of this year, we don't know who will and won't be here. Jauron may get cut loose with the rest of the staff so the new one can bring his own guys in (bad idea), Jauron may become our head coach (bad idea) and not work directly with our defensive game planning anymore, who knows. So we can't always rely on a scheme tailor made for each new opponent. We may end up with another generic one size fits all bend but don't break defense (that sucks) like we had pretty much every year before we hired Rob Ryan and now Jauron. And the motors will slow down as the season gets longer, injuries happen, fatigue sets in, losses pile up, etc. We really could use a playmaker that can get it done with talent and can be coached up to be an elite player.

Also, I think we have run stoppers starting at DT. Rubin is a really good player and Taylor was drafted to shore up the inside, but he was a rookie last year and is injured right now. When he gets back to full health and in game shape, which probably won't be until the end of this season/next season, I think our run defense gets a lot better. Part of the problem is at LB too, ours just suck outside of Jackson. Gocong is alright against the run, but he needs to be depth not starting, and Fujita needs replaced. Maybe we already have those guys on the roster, but I wouldn't mind taking a stud LB if there is one when we pick.

There's a ton of high caliber talent in the top 5 every single year. The main question is what positions will they be in? Last year was kind of a weak draft for every position outside of QB. This year is looking like it will be a fairly deep draft on the defensive side of the ball. I'd be surprised if there ISN'T a phenomenal talent in the top 5.

Heckert likes BPA, and he really likes when BPA is so close it could be one of several players and one of them fills a need. The last time there was a deep DL draft we drafted 2 in the first 2 rounds. Deep secondary draft, we drafted 2 in the first 2 rounds. I think we see that again this year with a deep draft defensively. Hopefully another DE and a FS this time since they seem ot be the deepest. Hagg is better than where he was drafted, but he's depth. He's just the best of a group consisting of the likes of Ray Ventrone and Usama Young. He needs upgraded and used in nickel and dime situations, not starting in our base defense.

I'd love the Browns to have a top 10 pick and then actually use cap space to sign someone who would be as good if not better than a 2nd round pick. I don't think that is too much to ask.

That is too much to ask most of the time. That player generally doesn't exist for a price that is sane to pay for a young team like ours. Who in the past few years have we not signed that we should have? Almost 9 million per year to Pierre Garcon? LOL. The Chargers paying 6 million per season for the Saints 3rd or 4th best WR? Come on man. We should go after guys like LeCharles Bentley, who if not for a freak accident was an all-pro level player at one position and pro-bowl caliber at another, who was in his prime. If a guy like that comes up, sure, get on the phone. If that guy doesn't come up, sign some depth guys with some upside for cheap and build through the draft.

I'm all for building through the draft as well, but there's nothing wrong with adding some talent in FA. This team has some holes to fill and really lack elite playmakers. They have some good ones, but nobody who's really elite. There's nothing wrong with overpaying one or 2 guys to bring in more talent to your roster. The Browns have a ton of money, I have no problem with them using some of it.

I wouldn't want Denard Robinson at QB... dude is a turnover machine.

It seems like every big game Oklahoma has, Landry Jones is good for at least one Int/Fumble TD. Would hate to have this guy on the Browns.

Look who is sitting atop the Big Ten whatever division, with a 4-0 record? The mighty Wildcats!

Their my ncaa team as well. I never liked OSU until I lived down here, and I only wanted them to beat the Florida schools in football since FLA NCAA football fans are fucking looney tunes. My dad played for NU in the late 60s/early 70s; I got in but I wanted to play small-college football, so I didn't attend. I'll probably end up taking some classes to finish up my degree, just to say I'm an alum.

Tavon Austin is awesome.

So we have the #1 pick as of right now.....Jarvis Jones looks like a beast and i would said outside linebacker is a weakness with Fujita aging and i dont feel comfortable with Maiava taking his spot
