2013 NFL Free Agency: Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I want us to go after Jarius Byrd, Dennis Pitta and some linebackers

Hate to burst your bubble, but I can almost guarantee we get neither. Those two probably won't be going anywhere.

Best O-Line in the league, Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree, Kendall Hunter, Delaney Walker, Randy Moss, Frank Gore, the list just goes on. His team made him, jesus christ they have playmakers. Alex Smith is not a blue-chip player.

The Browns have a very good young offensive line, very comparable talent at WR and RB

Not even close.

Schemes are wildy different. Gore is clearly the better RB at this point. Crabtree has really come on as a truly elite WR prospect.

And let's be real, Vernon Davis is the best weapon on either team's offensive side. We don't compare whatsoever offensively to the NFC CHAMPIONS, a team that is in the Super Bowl..

If you're really trying to compare them, then please, by all means, get the fuck out of here.

That post is so shortsighted that I will neither dignify it with a quote or a long rebuttal. Just sufficient to say that we wildly disagree.

Yep, you're completely right.

Hey guys, all we need is Alex Smith and we'll be a contender!

Maybe Alex Smith will boost our run offense all the way up to #4 in the league like he did with the 49ers, also, maybe he'll keep the passing offense down at 23rd overall just like in San Fran! This could be the best thing that's ever happened to Cleveland. Alex Smith is such an elite passer, that San Fransisco actually let him throw the ball 30 times in 3 whole games! Wow. He isn't a game manager at all or anything. True ELITE QB.

Get out of here with your stupid bullshit. Alex Smith makes this team 6-10. Letting Brandon Weeden develop has a shit ton more upside.

Need to let Weeden develop, no way that Alex Smith (who is a year younger than Weeden, mind you) will continue to develop.

The Browns have very good young offensive talent, it's simply not even up for debate at this point.

Letting Bran...

Letting...

LETTING BRANDON WEEDEN DEVELOP!? THAT OLD ASS FUCKER IS OLDER THAN ALEX SMITH.

No, see now I'm going to have to back you up and slow your role, dude.

Last year, the 49ers were 11th in the NFL in scoring points at 23.8 points per game.

This year, he average 23.65 points per game, good enough for 15th in the NFL.

Now, there are other factors. Undoubtedly Crabtree being a bitch ass bust while Smith was under center is one of the reasons why they succeeded. Frank Gore is definitely good, but it helped that the QB was able to keep teams honest. Vernon Davis is better than most players on our team, no doubt. The others are gimmick guys which are at best, average.

See, the thing is, Alex Smith is a good QB. No one is calling him elite except you to make a weak point. He's better than Brandon Weeden, he's better than Colt McCoy, and this team, without a QB who is making horrible rookie fucking mistakes, would have won at least 8 games this past year with him. Now if you truly believe that we would be 6-10, so be it. But lets not act like Alex Smith was some terrible QB. He's a good QB in the NFL who could start for a variety of teams.

I'm meh on Smith, but I like him 1000000x better than Vick.

Safety and WR are the deep FA groups. Mike Wallace is intriguing, even if he goes elsewhere. I have no idea how Pittsburgh moves the ball next year without him.

The thing is, everyone on this site is constantly preaching about the need for a "franchise QB". Like, non-stop. People just keep saying, the only way to win a Super Bowl is to get an elite guy.

Alex Smith has no chance to be an elite guy. He's a game manager who has stars around him and gets to put the ball up about 20-25 times a game. Not good enough.

Case closed. End of story. Game over. Whatever you want to say. It's in the books.

Have no idea why b00bie of all people would want him? Likely just to spite me because he has a thing for that. I know b00bie is one of the main guys to be preaching the whole franchise guy thing and even he isn't naive enough to think Alex Smith could be that.

Just so we are clear, Alex Smith can and could be that guy.

Don't know what the fuck you're talking about at all? I know the Browns have young talent, I'm not debating. Are they even fucking close to the 49ers talent level right now? FUCK NO. You're trying to compare a Super Bowl team, to a team that finished up 5-11, and you're actually trying to make a case for the team that's 5-11.

Take a step back and look at what you're trying to say because you're really making yourself sound even worse post by post.

Just so we are clear, Alex Smith can and could be that guy.

Please. Tell me where in the last 7 years you got this from?

IF THIS GUY CAN'T WIN A SUPER BOWL IN SAN FRANCISCO WITH THAT DEFENSE, AND THOSE PLAYMAKERS, ON THAT STACKED TEAM, THERE IS BY NO MEANS, NO MEANS AT ALL, THAT HE COULD FUCKING WIN ONE WITH THE CLEVELAND BROWNS.

END OF STORY.

Jesus dude. You're having a meltdown. Chill the hell out.

Jesus dude. You're having a meltdown. Chill the hell out.

It's extremely frustrating going from one thread with everyone proclaiming the need for a Franchise QB, then turning here and everyone want's to go out and get a mediocre QB for the majority of his career. :chuckles:

I apologize. I just get fired up.

I'm just going to stay clear any Alex Smith talks in this thread for a while. :gap:
