2014-15 Off-Season Thread (Moss Acquired - Page 16)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm in the camp that Chase Headley is extremely overrated. He had one really good season, a decent season, and then a bunch of garbage. Rather see what happens with Lonnie.

Brett Anderson to the Dodgers at 1 year $10 million with another possible $4 million in incentives.

No thanks.

Alex Rios to the Royals. 1 year, $11 million

Not sure if this is accurate because I'm not overly familiar with the MLB luxury tax, but Tigers' projected payroll this year is already at $170mil without re-signing Sherzer. Last year's was only $162mil and the luxury tax kicks in at $178mil.

They have SO MANY guys coming off the books next year that they won't repeat under luxury tax, but they also need to replace those guys and a lot of their current expensive guys are getting older. Not sure if they'll continue to pour money into it, or not.

Bummer. I was hoping the Tribe could somehow snag him on a similar one year deal, so that we won't have to rely at all on Swish.

Swisher is going to have an All-Star season in 2015, just watch...

I've totally been calling this. Dude had a 3.8 WAR in '13 and we act like he's been dead for 5 years. I think there's a chance he has a moderately productive '15.

Moderately productive is one thing, but making the All-Star team coming off double knee surgery at the age of 34 when he was never an All-Star to begin with would rank right up there with the best of seasons.

Even if we would've gotten Rios, Swish wouldn't have just been benched.

He's one of the highest paid players on the team & was productive just in '13. He's not just going to get benched.

Oh yeah I didn't mean All-Star - I assumed the original post was tongue-in-cheek. Just meant I think he can be a decent player for us.

True, but at least the Tribe would be in a stronger position offensively when Swisher inevitably bottoms out or heads back to the D.L.
