2014-15 Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The difference between the Cavs SOS and the Hawks SOS is minuscule. I really don't understand this need to discredit the Hawks. This team is damn good, and the run they are on is impressive. They're not a lock to make the ECF, but they could absolutely win the whole thing, and to say otherwise is ignorant.

Agreed - it's irrelevant really. I was looking through the schedules of us and the other top teams in the East the other night, and counted Wash/Toronto/ATL matching up against maybe 2-3 more playoff teams through the rest of the regular season than we do. Anyone can beat anyone on any given night.

It's easy to dismiss ATL as a team that has consistently under-performed in past post-seasons, but that team is built to win. I enjoy the "Spurs of the East" label they've drawn. They don't necessarily have a star who carries them through the struggles, but they have three extremely talented guys who can make a play against virtually anyone (Teague, Millsap, Horford), 3PT firepower in Korver & bench bigs, yet they rely on their system over heroism. They're one of the rare, versatile defensive teams who can switch on any given p&r while feeling confident in a mismatch.

Everything has to click to go on a major playoff run, but they've got the coaching and tools to be successful.

Yea, whatever the difference in .SOS is doesn't make up for the 12 game differential in the loss column.

Whether or not the Hawks actually make it to the Finals is one thing, but they certainly are elite and they can get there.

As for not having top shelf, go-to talent, I'd say Paul Millsap this year is as good as anyone on the Spurs team last year.

How are they considered go-to, elite talents while Jeff Teague, Al Horford, and Paul Millsap aren't?

Tony Parker is going to be in the hall of fame. Duncan, although not what he once was, is a hall of famer, and knows how to play at a high level. Manu is going into the hall of fame.

Those three, do not, at all, come close to having the basketball credentials those three HOF players have. I don't care if they're playing better basketball at the moment. The season is a marathon, the Spurs pace themselves.

The Hawks are fools gold, I'm sorry. They're a good team, they are a good story. I have nothing against them. I hate teams like the Bulls and Wizards much, much, much more. But I still think those teams are better, and two teams that would cause us more problems.

The Cavs won 66 games in the regular season, had incredible winning streaks. How did they do? Someone, please tell me how much "different" are these Hawks than the 66 win Cav team, WITH LeBron.

I see very similar problems with the Hawks, that I saw with us in the first LeBron era come playoff time. Sorry, I used to be just as skeptical of us then, and our chances to win a title. So, I'm not being bias, just being honest.

I give them literally a 5 percent change of getting out of the East. I would be shocked if they did.

What does those 3 being HOFers have to do with anything? My point was that Teague, Horford, and Millsap are all guys that are able to get you a bucket when needed. They're all able to score in isolation when the game gets tough. To simply discount that team because they don't have a "go-to scorer" or an "elite talent" is lazy and misguided. They're a hell of a team.

I don't think OKC will make the playoffs. They keep losing and too much ground to make up in the West. Sort of crazy.

Millsap is criminally underrated by so many.

Atlanta's defense is what makes them a legit threat. If they were just a high scoring team winning lots of games but not defending I would probably write them off as well.

They are one of the best defenses in the league though, and that warrants them being taken seriously. Not to mention they do have a good offense as well and they can shoot the ball.

Even if their shots aren't going down their D will keep them in games. They also have a Pop protege as head coach, so take that for what you will about the likelihood of them being well prepared every night and likely not to wilt in crunch time.

Down goes Atlanta! Atlanta goes down!

Cavs now with the longest win-streak in the league, by far.

Fellas! Wake up! There's basketball happening!

Bulls losing in Houston, but with Howard out, I'm not so optimistic. Discuss!

What do you fellas think about how well DJ Augustin is filling in for Brandon Jennings? Pistons might have even improved!

If the Cavs win tomorrow and Washington loses, we could be tied for 3rd. Very important game for us, and we can't let the Clippers bully us.

Don't think it should be that much of a surprise. He played really well for the Bulls last year.
