I'm back from vacation and I see that the annual ESPN NBA Rank / outrage fest has begun without me.

These guys ranked 500 NBA players on a scale of 0-10 in terms of "the overall level of play for each player for the upcoming NBA season."
Here are the current and former Cavaliers players that have been ranked so far:

What is more shocking?
  • Earl Clark ranked higher than Wayne Ellington ?
  • Andrew Bynum was listed over anyone?
  • Telfair is still in the NBA?
 
The one that is most shocking is probably a tie between Bynum and Clark. Surprised they were even ranked.

He isn't that far up. There are 30 NBA teams with 15 man rosters for the regular season. That's 450 players total. He's being projected to be roughly the 12th player on an NBA roster. It means he isn't even grading out as a rotation player. Just an end of the bench filler.

Ahh my apologies, I thought that the list was in chronological order before I started scrolling through all the names.
 
Earl Clark is ranked about 130 spots too high..
 
Kyrie ranked 21st by SI. Lebron and Love will be top 10.

Karasev was and is still more about potential than ability. It is a luxury to have players with potential on your roster and they are fun to track as fans, but players with potential don't win games like players with ability. Karasev's drop from 314 to 389 in the ranking says something about how his potential is viewed these days. It's still there but the clock is ticking.
