2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Allen is probably waiting to see if we land Love. If we don't look like we can legit compete for a title not worth his time.

While this is a solid addition for Dallas, the most interesting part, for me, is that they didn't go for Mo. Comeback in the making?

Allen is tight enough with LeBron, Jones, Miller, and Lue that this wait most likely has nothing to do with what happens with Love. Final step is just getting the leg MRIs making sure everything looks solid there, and then making the commitment.

I don't know if anyone here cares, but in Europe, there's also "free agency" kind of time between the seasons. Ex Cavs Jeremy Pargo just came back and signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv today :)

I bet Ray Allen is waiting to see if we trade for KG, considering KG still wants to stab him...

We need veteran leadership. James Jones has been in the playoffs multiple times. I don't care where they're from. Allen and Miller have both won in the playoffs.

We are not the Heataliers. We are trying to build a championship-winning culture that will rub off on players so they can carry the torch for the next 5+ years.

"Culture" for me is the key word. We NEED players who know how to win. Obviously LBJ helps in that department. But the more locker room leaders with playoff/championship know-how, the more impacting on the psyche of our younger guys.

I think sometimes we tend to forget that this isn't NBA2K. This is real life. And psychology, relationships and culture, all play a big role in determining the growth, development and overall outcome of a group of players. I'm not all the way on board with having "ex-Heat players," but if it means good things for our team, then so be it.

I'm fully aware this isn't a legit source. At all really. But I also know that these types of accounts often take snippets from other legit sources and pass them off as their own.

But I can't seem to find anything on this. Has anyone seen anything on the Cavs interest here?

No, I have seen nothing. There were reports he met with the Raptors around July 8th, but nothing came of it and I have seen nothing else. Zache Lowe reported a few weeks ago that Jason Kidd suspended him back in December, which is not surprising.

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/grantland-exclusive-the-jason-kidd-mess-has-a-144-million-pricetag/

He did, surprisingly, play pretty well in Brooklyn, but I can't imagine he will come to Cleveland.

It's not the Miami model at all. Miami had three superstars collude to play with each other, each by taking a shorter (and identical) extension that allowed them to all be free agents, conveniently, at the exact same time.

We drafted one of our stars (Irving), signed another in free agency (LeBron, although we also drafted him originally), and would be hypothetically trading for the third (Love) using the assets we've accumulated over the past four years. Our fourth banana (Waiters) is another guy drafted by us, as are Thompson and Varejao (who we technically didn't draft, but close enough). This is not Miami's model. It's closer to Boston's big three model (three stars plus homegrown guys) than anything Miami did, although our players are younger in this scenario.

Well J how about we reassess this in blunt honesty.

KI was drafted which is accurate...LBJ the traitor/prodical returned home....Love is from self raping our own home grown assets do the the impetuousness of LBJ allegedly and this win at all costs mantra.

Love didn't want any part of Cleveland and this came out draft time...Now lebron is here and we are a consideration. Thats a merc he felt no respect for our organization or his Pepsi skit buddy KI. He has already stated his preference on where he would ideally like to play state wise.

Painting this as anything less than his greed for a possible ring and self promotion which would make him even more money on the F/A market is kind of confusing. He has always been labeled a selfish player for his stats. Yes getting assists count also to differentiate himself from the typical pf in my book. Though the end result is points for the team. Love is extremely talented of this there is no doubt.

So yes it's the Lebronalliers when you think of Mike Miller and Ray Allen now being brought on. Lebron who is the NBA alpha dog means none of these other F/A or the course of trades that followed to make room for the key cog in the Miami Collusion would be here.

Someone recently asked wtf happened to World Wide Wes and I think that's a poignant question. I do know fame sycophant Mav Carter is still around and he was most certainly apart of the collusion that took place during the decision.

The Cleveland purist identify with Dion who I think might have been the only outspoken player on the team with love for the land at the end of the day :)

So my summation Love is a Mercenary that makes me dislike him benefiting from our 4 years of draft angst and F/A snubbing. Not to mention media jokes.

DG will buy a ring for Cleveland which I will not begrudge his Malcom X pre-Mecca "By any means necessary" corporate philosophy. It's for our beloved City.

Yet The Browns will still be the most beloved team in Cleveland NMW because of the identity branded into the struggle to become relevant. Hard work defying the odds and overcoming. There is something to be said about the trials making the accolades so meaningful.

It's why I loved my Cleveland teams & love to hate that George Steinbrenner approach to winning.

For me there will always be an *'s next to the rings we glean if we acquire Love, but then again I am no Gollum.

I'm just a noob poster with poor english and far to much Cleveland Pride.

If I'm remembering correctly, Brendan Haywood was a mentor to Blatche in Washington. I wouldn't discount the possibility of him joining the Cavs due to that.

With his 9 years in the league, a veteran's minimum contract would pay him $1.3M/year (close to the ceiling). I have thought all along that he would get a bigger payday but we're nearing the end of July and he's still out there. At a salary that low, he could easily be traded down the road. Not exactly a rim-protector but he made contributions to the Nets.

See what I mean now Cleveland is every's itch

This is the kind of crap I am talking about we don't even need this DB.

Why Lebron wants to get rings for these clowns when he should be trying to eclipse them in total rings is a mystery to me.

It's like Winston Cup racing series but allowing your competitors with more points than you to draft of you while they pad there overall points count. You win the race sure but the overall points are tallied at the end and your beneath them for the overall crown.

Does he simply think he needs a certain number of rings no mater how many any one else has to be the GOAT. Why does he not want to have the most rings amongst his peers. So weak as a competitor omfg.

Dammit he makes me respect Kobe so much more and I love to hate that snake. lol

LeBron is already ranked higher all-time than Ray Allen. He always will be, even if he never wins another ring. I doubt he's at all concerned about padding Ray Allen's ring count.
