2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
LeBron is already ranked higher all-time than Ray Allen. He always will be, even if he never wins another ring. I doubt he's at all concerned about padding Ray Allen's ring count.

He doesn't want to be the GOAT based on his actions. So your feelings he doesn't care about Jesus Shuttle Worth's ranking all time has the same validity as my saying Rings mater.

I will tell you 1st hand from the few players i have grown up with and know Rings mater to premier players period.

I was 13 years old and Chuck Oak told me strait out that ring count amongst allstar caliber players is how they jockey for shit talking rights.

Forest Hills is where I am from. Used to walk over to his house or when he would visit my uncle's church with Darryl Talley in VA he said the same dam thing from an NFL perspective.

But your right Bron is a different type a dude.

You only give more credence to my fears as Kobe wants the most rings period he has the gimmie gimmie gimmie hunger to be the GOAT.

That must be why Kobe took twenty-five million a year, making it basically impossible for the Lakers to surround him with any real talent.

He is a greedy bastard but applying your same logic Lebron and his reported wanting a max deal shows he is on his greed as well. So now what?

Actually didn't he sign for only 2 years to make getting the bigger pie in the new CBA TV agreement stuff coming down the pipeline in 2 years.

Jack how many years did Kobe sign for 2 years also?

Oddly enough I see Love as an ideal AllStar to play with seeing as he has no rings in retrospect.

Who won Ray Allen his last two rings? That is what is remembered. MVP's coupled with championships. Ray Allen may even go down as the greatest shooter of all time, still will never sniff the greatest of all time category.

And don't tell me that Allen's miracle shot was what won the series for Miami against SAS. They wouldn't have even been in that position without Lebron's exemplary play up until that point.

Kobe, Duncan, Wade, and Lebron are the only current players in the league that can compare rings to each other. They will go down in the history of the league as some of the best players of all time.

By your argument, would you say Horry is better than Jordan? Well, he's got one more ring! No, you compare the greats who carried their teams to championships, not the role players that rode their coattails.

LeBron is in his prime and the best player in the NBA. He should be taking max money. Kobe was over the hill when he accepted that 25 million a year deal. That's when players should start giving teams, especially teams they've played for their entire careers, the hometown discount. Look at what Duncan and Dirk did around the same age that Kobe took that deal.

Tim Duncan didn't take a major paycut until his 16th season in the league, as an example. Dirk Nowitzki didn't take a major paycut until this upcoming season, his 17th year in the league. Guys in their primes don't take paycuts.

I will rebuttal with The Decision fiascoe and find it more justifiable that LBJ should have given us the home town discount here patiently waiting for the new 2 year tv increase to super max out. While allowing us to bolster the team for an immediate chance at 2 rings this year and next opposed to forcing self rape of our assets earned after he left.

I will add he is trying to catch Kobe not the other way around Rings vs $$$$.

Instead we are giving of serious potential and future assets to get him Love.

I don't have to tell you Ray Allen saved that game I can show the video of SA players saying such amongst others it's out there already. Coattail rider huh :2× NBA champion (2008, 2013)
10× NBA All-Star (2000–2002, 2004–2009, 2011)

To the Horry point scroll up reread All star caliber players had no idea Horry was a mega star but if that is sufficient for you cool :)

Actually he never made one so not sure how that comment is relevant to my point.

Ray Allen saved ONE game in the playoffs. They wouldn't have been there without Lebron. That's my point.

Ok I'll play...50% of Bron's championships came down to a last second save they were loosing so he didn't bring them far enough.

That is my point regarding your point.

Which has nothing to do overall with the original convo Jack and I were sorting out.

You cherry picked with your opinion which is cool and then presented Robert Horry as your foundation + called Ray Allen who is a 10 time ALL-Star who happens to own the same amount of Rings as LBJ a " role players that rode their coattails."

Ray Allen will at least be a 2nd ballot Hall Of Famer maybe even 1st run.

Yeah, back from his Seattle days. I would argue that he is now a role player...can't play defense, his only role is too stretch the floor and keep defenses honest. In that role, IE ROLE PLAYER, he won his championships RIDING the coattails of a better player.

How can you even take into account how many times someone has been voted as an ALL STAR. It's a popularity contest.

I didn't cherry pick. My argument is that the actual all-time greats are the only one's who count rings amongst themselves. Ray Allen is lucky to have played on stacked teams to win his.

It seems weird that lebron and ray are so good friends, if he had accepted our offer 7 years ago they could have been lifelong friends in cleveland and won rings together.

Hyperbole to the extreme and does not change the point they were loosing that finals Ray saved him even as the IE role player he is today. The big 3 would only have 1 ring not 2 not 3 not 4 championships he was arrogantly setting precedent for. He ran to Wade who is like Kobe an assassin with 2 rings all ready.

So how does that tie in with Bron and his piggy backing other players with Rings & him not trying to be the GOAT with his immense talent?

Dude you didn't even have your facts strait just jumped in head 1st. Then went to disparage a player with the same amount of rings Bron had and last second sniping saved him from having only 1 ring.

Whats your valid point other than your opinion with out any factual basis for the argument.

Hall Of Famers are all time greats which is where Ray is likely headed still not sure wth your talking about.

Unless you have a voting power to dismiss Ray and his achievements getting in

Technically couldn't most to all teams that wins a title be considered stacked No luck there. Allen played a big part in winning in Boston and a solid role in winning in Miami.

I'd imagine this would only be as training camp invite type thing.
