2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I literally said "We certainly couldn't give them both max deals, not that we would." So if I'm correct we can go however much over the cap we want to retain players whose bird-rights we own?

You can always go over the cap to sign your own Free Agents. How much you can go over is usually more limited t=by the type of contract they can sign than the cap itself.

Yup, as long as Gilbert is willing to pay the tax year in and year out.

I doubt Marion take the vet minimum. How much can we offer in a sign and trade with the unguaranteed contracts we picked up?

As I said before, I'm looking past this year. Miller, Marion, and Jones could all leave/retire at any time. If we have three max deals, which would be 95% of the cap room, we won't have room to offer both Dion and TT a contract extension. Do you see my point? I get wanting to win now, but if we fuck this up it could set us back a few years, even with LBJ.

Miller is making $2.7 million. Jones and Marion would be on vet minimum contracts. Their value is playoff experience and leadership. For those prices I don't see how you would think their contracts are what's crippling the Cavs lmao.

Nice reading comprehension, bro. I said I'm more concerned with the lack of young guys on the team, and the max contracts of Love, Kyrie, and LBJ. It's cool though because someone actually explained the birds rights argument to me.

Looking past this year you still have LeBron at just 30 and Andy just 32.

Then you have: Kyrie, Dion(under team control 2-3 more years), Tristan, Love,Delly, Harris, and Powell.

On top of that you'd have our 2015 First Rounder, the 2015 Miami first rounder, and the Memphis first rounder. Plus the MLE which could get used on a 2nd or 3rd contract guy(ie. under 30)

The team is set up to have plenty of young prime talent and young depth and young development.

Lack of young guys? After the end of the month we'll have Kyrie, Love, Thompson, Waiters, Harris, Delly. Title teams always have older vet guys rotate in at the MLE and vet min.

This is amazing.

I freaking love Shawn Marion.

Perfect fit on this roster.

So Love and Kyrie don't count as young? Love is 26, Kyrie is 22. Waiters, Tristan, Delly, Joe Harris, and possibly Powell are all under 24. That's at least 5 guys under 24 and Love entering his prime. Not sure what the problem is.

I doubt Marion wants to be a workhorse on a fringe playoff team, at this point in his career.

If he's a perfect fit on Indy, then he's a tank driver

Perfect guy to give Lebron rest on the defensive end. I hope we figure out how to get him. I think we the unguaranteed contracts we have we can sign and trade him for around 3 million with the 125% rule.
