2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Re: 2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion (Marion watch)

This is the exact kind of signing that would have pissed us all off if he'd been signing in Miami with the Big 3.

Amazing how much better it would feel from this slightly different perspective. Heh.

Re: 2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion (Marion watch)

Having Marion would make it much easier for us all to digest the Wiggins trade since he's a very capable defender.

You don't really believe that, do you? Marion will be 37 during next season's playoffs. Nice piece, sure. Helps us digest losing Wiggins? Hardly.

From the research I did it's most likely this guy

So, then, who is that guy??? :chuckles:

I guess it makes sense for it to be someone with Marion since they're all wearing baseball caps in the first picture. I thought at first that the Cavs reps were sitting on the Griffin side of the table and couldn't figure out who that Cavs guy would be. Way too big to be Lue.

For this coming season, he's likely to be at least as good defensively as Wiggins would have been. We've got next offseason to look for a longer-term solution to the defense issue.

Nobody said it was a long-term solution. The Cavs have multiple first round picks next year, the full MLE, and Haywood's contract. I think finding a perimeter defender won't be too hard, but that's just me.

He will be a better defender than Wiggins this year.

Marion would be a great pickup. Love how we are looking to add vets.

Well, people are calling us the Cleveland Heat. If we get the Matrix and Barea, that's 2 from the 2011 Mavs.

Might as well call us the Cleveland 2011 NBA Finals

I'd prefer to call us the "Cleveland Cavaliers - 2015 NBA Champions." :chuckles:

NOTE: Can't believe I wrote the above sentence with only 15% sarcasm.

I wonder if Marion is willing to accept a bench role, though?

Marion was a bench player for the Mavs in their 2010-2011 championship season. He only became a starter once Butler was sidelined for the season with an injury. If he accepted a bench role when he was 4 years younger, then I don't think he'd mind accepting a bench role today now that he's 37 years old and hungry for another ring.

To where does one travel in order to board the "Shawn Marion Safari" bus?

Olive Garden? Wal-Mart? Disney Animal Kingdom? ...

I've stocked up on Red Bull and Slim Jim's and I'm ready to roll ...Let's Do this!!!

I was waiting for this to turn into a Safari. This would be a true Safari. Word of a player on the brink of coming here, bunch o' nonsense for like 2 days and then he signs and we make a real thread about him.

These slow motion Lebron and Love Safaris are murderous.

I don't know how much more of the Love Pissing Contest..I mean Safari I can take. Safaris are supposed to be fun but that thread is turning into a soul sucker.

I think he's aware of it. There are only select number of places where he could actually start and Indy is one of them. Not sure about the Bulls. They could use Butler at the 2 and Marion at the 3, but that offensive could be ugly
