2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: 2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion (Marion watch)

Marion could soak up minutes at SF and PF. He could be on the court with any of Love, LeBron, Tristan and Varejao and compliment each of them well.

In fact, if you wanted to run small...you could run with something like:

PG: Kyrie/Delly
SG: Dion/Delly
SF: LeBron
PF: Marion
C: Tristan

and still play DECENT team defense. I wouldn't want Tristan at Center for long stretches, but this lineup would allow you to run constantly and shoot effectively from all over the court.

Love and LeBron could literally be on the same court with anyone on the team at any given point given that they can score from anywhere.

So any update on Marion?
Could we even sign him to the minimum before the unspoken rumored trade happens on the 23rd?

Yes, Cleveland still has roster spots open and all we have left is vet min contracts to give out.

So, then, who is that guy??? :chuckles:

I guess it makes sense for it to be someone with Marion since they're all wearing baseball caps in the first picture. I thought at first that the Cavs reps were sitting on the Griffin side of the table and couldn't figure out who that Cavs guy would be. Way too big to be Lue.

"what a great day for lil Shawn"

Maybe he has a son who looks the same age as him :dunno:

Have to hope nobody offers more than min.

I'd prefer to call us the "Cleveland Cavaliers - 2015 NBA Champions." :chuckles:

NOTE: Can't believe I wrote the above sentence with only 15% sarcasm.

And 2016, and 2017, and 2018...

For this coming season, he's likely to be at least as good defensively as Wiggins would have been. We've got next offseason to look for a longer-term solution to the defense issue.

And he won't be mistake-prone like a rookie Wiggins would be.

Someone will offer him the full MLE. He had a good season last year. If he really want to win a title though he'll come to Cleveland to play with LeBron.

OT, but glad he's not on the Cavs anymore. PJ Tucker will spend three days in jail after he got arrested for a DUI.

Love and LeBron could literally be on the same court with anyone on the team at any given point given that they can score from anywhere.

Which gets me wondering: will LeBron, in his quest for reduced minutes and a lessening of the offensive burden, wind up being the second-leading scorer on the team? I think Love is going to score at will w/ LeBron on the floor. So will Kyrie, but I'm beginning to think Love will benefit the most playing alongside LeBron.

Someone probably will, but it might not matter. Mike Miller was reportedly offered significantly more by Denver, but he took less money and, I believe, one less year in order to play here. These guys are nearing the end of their career, and playing a role on a title team is more rewarding than playing big minutes for a team that has no chance of winning this year like Indy.

Also, Marion has made over 130 million in his NBA career. He can afford to take the veteran minimum.
