2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Re: 2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion (Marion watch)

Someone probably will, but it might not matter. Mike Miller was reportedly offered significantly more by Denver, but he took less money and, I believe, one less year in order to play here. These guys are nearing the end of their career, and playing a role on a title team is more rewarding than playing big minutes for a team that has no chance of winning this year like Indy.

Also, Marion has made over 130 million in his NBA career. He can afford to take the veteran minimum.
Would like to think money won't matter and it shouldn't at his age.

He wouldn't have met with us at all if he wasn't at least contemplating a minimum deal on a contending team.

Which gets me wondering: will LeBron, in his quest for reduced minutes and a lessening of the offensive burden, wind up being the second-leading scorer on the team? I think Love is going to score at will w/ LeBron on the floor. So will Kyrie, but I'm beginning to think Love will benefit the most playing alongside LeBron.

That'd be something to write about, Lebron the team's 2nd leading scorer. It could happen. I mean when Lebron does sit, you'd probably see Kyrie and Love sharing the load. I think one of the things the Heat did poorly was staggering the lineups, the Bulls/Jackson made sure a rested MJ/Pippen was on the floor at all times when there was something to contest. With Love doing the dirty work rebounding, Irving running the team, James will get extended time on the bench. James can come into a lineup with Thompson-Miller-Marion-Delly, then bring back Love/Irving to finish off the game.

Pacers can likely offer a starting position and more minutes as well. Still hope he chooses going for a title. He would be a great fit here.

Dumb on the Pacers part: tank it this year, get a better pick, and you get PG back next year.
It's not like they were going to win the title this year with PG healthy and after losing Lance

I suspect that when some of the weak sisters of the NBA come to Cleveland the goal will be to go up by 20 or more after three quarters and hopefully the starters will be done for the night.

This should totally be the plan. If they get up high enough they can draft one of the many good centers in next year's draft then let hibbert walk in the offseason.

Any chance the Cavs go after Bledsoe if he takes his qualifying offer? A swap with Waiters might be smart just to get his amazing defense. Only worrying thing is a Bledsoe, Irving, Love, Varejao lineup would have the potential to miss a shit ton of games with injury. Although the thought of a Irving, Bledsoe, Lebron, Love, Varejao starting line up is great.

I appreciate the player Marion is and really hope he signs here. It's just funny to me because I always want to stab my own eyeballs with a hot poker watching him shoot. I may need therapy watching him play every night for us.
