The Royals are getting knocked around by the Yankees right now, so the Tribe should enter play 5.5 GB the Royals. Every game is obviously important, but with three in Chicago, three in Kansas City, and four at home against Detroit, the season may be decided over the next two weeks.

Why post something like this in a baseball thread? Never understood this lol.
I'm just saying that nobody cares about the team because it's baseball. If we were 5 wins better do you really think Indians fever would be running wild?

I care, but nobody else does and I've accepted that. I'm just trying to dispel the popular notion that people don't support the team because they aren't winning, or because they don't spend. None of that matters because this just isn't a baseball town.

The Indians have one of the better home records in the league which means that you have a great chance to see a win if you go to a game.

I've given up on expecting city-wide support for the team. It's just not going to happen unless the Browns decide to bolt again.

Thanks for clarifying. I will say, however, that I disagree. I think support of the team is because of management being perceived as cheap. I'm not trying to start that debate back up (I certainly have my opinions), but regardless of what people feel, it's true.

The average fan blames Larry Dolan for:

- Breaking up the 90's dynasty.

- Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome, C.C. Sabathia, Cliff Lee, and Victor Martinez leaving town.

- The Indians having a much lower payroll than division rival Detroit

Is that fair? I don't think so at all. Is that reality? Absolutely.

This is a topic covered before - I just don't think fans fully get behind this team until ownership changes. I don't think that's necessarily fair to Larry Dolan, but it's the reality of the situation.

Well informed fans should know that the 90s wasn't going to be sustainable for a Cleveland team, but the drop off and lack of development from our draft picks is just insane.

Both Ramirez and Thome wanted to leave for the money, no big problem there. Both CC and Lee also wanted the money so Cleveland was forced to get something for them. The packages they got for them weren't the best. Brantley and it seems like Carrasco are the only two piece we got for 2 Cy young award winners. Martinez seemed like the most likely of the bunch to stay, but they did need to do a quick reboot after making the trades of the 2 pitchers.

Everyone should know that the Indians aren't going to be able to spend like Detroit. My biggest reason for hated Dolans are the fact that they said they would spend when the time was right. After the year we were one game away from the world series was perfect time to spend, yet they made jamey carroll their major free agent acquisition...

Thankfully with Shapiro taking a promotion, Antonetti and others have made major progress in scouting when it comes to what looks like hitting more frequently with draft picks. If Cleveland is going to be relevant more often they need to be more like Oakland. Spend when it makes sense and continue to develop your farm system. I know Oakland hasn't won anything recently, but they've had a much better opportunity than Cleveland.

A sweep would be nice but all we need to ask for is to take the series. We will know how easy our road is to make the playoffs in less than 2 weeks. If we can take all of these series, we have a great chance. Even if we split, we have 3 more left against KC and 3 left against Detroit, with some "easy" (never easy it seems for Cleveland) series thrown in between.

We're gonna need some help from other teams against KC/Detroit but we can do it.

My Rudy rant is now over.

Adam Eaton was activated by Chicago and is expected to play at least two games in this series.

We really need at least two of three here before taking on KC. We need to keep the pace.

Tribe offense has us up 3-0 early on. Against a lefty too.

Hmm, second time House faces the Sox. Let's see what happens here, if they adjust and we have a high-scoring game (Quintana has no idea where the ball is going so far) or if the Sox just roll over.

Yuup, Chicago is smacking House around. Gonna be a long night...

Since Matt and RIck are discussing it; who sees Paul Konerko as a Hall of Famer?

I never saw Konerko as a hall of famer...just a really good, reliable player that's always killed it against the Indians.

So, we're not winning anymore.

Yeah, no, borderline guy. He is in that Kenny Lofton territory: overall a very good ballplayer, productive for a long time, a couple of awesome seasons but not enough of those great ones to justify him. Although I know I got some rookie cards of his somewhere so maybe yes.

At least Zach Walters hasn't struck out yet tonight??
