@sgm405 Trades in baseball are going to always be perceived as more than just a 1 to 1, especially since most deals for big name guys have 2,3, or 4 players going back to the receiving team. I absolutely agree that Brantley is a star and that's great to have, but they had an opportunity to get an extra piece or 2 to go along with him and failed.

I know Cleveland usually does well when trading those fringe guys or players who are leaving at the end of the year. E Perez, Broussard, Blake, Westbrook, DeRosa, and now Cabrera. They guys that they received for all these players have worked out and helped contribute to the team.

Walters looks like an absolute steam so far. Excited to continue to watch him grow as a player. Maybe we can find him a position next year.

This team is obviously not going to roll over... but my concern is the fact I'm not sure anyone in front of them is going to either. Not sure they can catch up. With that said, I love their fight!

Royals vs Indians: 6 games left
Tigers vs Indians: 7 games left
Royals vs Tigers: 6 games left

Whoever wins this division is going to earn it. If we can continue to take care of business each series, we're going to have a shot at this thing.

Well...I guess there's only one thing left to do.

Remaining schedule:

2 @ CHW
3 @ KC
4 vs. DET
3 vs. CHW
1 vs. LAA (makeup)
3 vs. MIN
3 @ DET
4 @ HOU
3 @ MIN
3 vs. KC
3 vs. TB

My estimated outcomes:

2 @ CHW (2 of 2)
3 @ KC (1 of 3)
4 vs. DET (3 of 4)
3 vs. CHW (2 of 3)
1 vs. LAA (makeup) (0 of 1)
3 vs. MIN (3 of 3)
3 @ DET (1 of 3)
4 @ HOU (4 of 4)
3 @ MIN (3 of 3)
3 vs. KC (1 of 3)
3 vs. TB (2 of 3)

That would place us at 89-73, which would make a potential playoff spot very reachable. We've got some very easy scheduling coming up in September (Chicago, Houston, Minnesota), solid opponents (Tampa, LAA), and two teams that we're going to have to fight tooth and nail to have a chance against (Kansas City, Detroit).

It's a tough road, but last year's run taught me to never give up on this team. You never know. We could have another historic September.

Also, Anibal Sanchez may be done for the year for the Tigers. That'd be a huge blow to their rotation.

That is their version of last year right there. IMO they HAVE to go 9-1 to have a shot in those 10 games. Also see no way they make the playoffs without taken 2 of 3 from the Royals at home at the end of the season.

My honest expectations for the division (if we play well):

Kansas City Royals 91-71
Cleveland Indians 88-74
Detroit Tigers 87-75

KC has a pretty weak schedule the rest of the way, but it will still be close. Anything can happen, and I'm not going to bother watching the standings until the last 2 weeks.

This all comes from my highly scientific method of going through each team's schedule and thinking W-L-W-W-L-L-W etc.

This method also gave me 89-73 for Seattle.

Even with all those meaningless projections, anything can happen. One team getting hot can change everything.

LaPorta was supposed to be the star. The "extra guy" was Brantley...so they got the "extra guy".

Ten seasons from an All-Star for 3 months of a guy who was going to leave anyway = steal.

wow David Price is getting absolutely shelled...gave up like 9 hits in a row in the 3rd inning wow
