2015-2016 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Clippers jerseys are okay. Not sure about the court.

I'm gonna fire this up early because I wanna know what everyone thinks about Indiana moving Paul George to the 4.

I frankly don't like it. He's the 3rd best small forward in the league, the second best player in the Eastern Conference, and not as big and strong as LeBron and Carmelo who play the four regularly. Why move him from a position he's become so good at it? We'll see how it goes, but he's already said he doesn't like the move.

Watched the first quarter of NOLA pacers, although he is playing the 4 they are using him as they always have done on offense. The chances of him surviving a season getting banged around by 4's seems silly. The pacers were not great defensively and Davis was dominating (although that should be all year) I just think they will get out rebounded by most teams and will need a high percentage from miles and ellis to have a chance of winning.

Watching Clippers and Toronto.
Damn those teams have some of the ugliest uniforms I have ever seen.

Toronto looks good. Playing with tons of energy. They have a good shot to be the second best team in the East.

Clips look to be going through the motions. The potential backup lineup featuring Lance, Josh Smith, rivers, and Crawford is gonna be chucking like crazy.

Yes, Toronto is a very nice team. They have some good talented guys and they will be relying on talent a lot.
Clips - CP3, DJ and Reddick seem to have great chemistry. All of the others are kinda just running around over there lol. Blake's D is atrocious.

Watching the Lakers now. They look absolutely horrible. No chemistry at all, offense is super stagnant.
Hope they get it together because Russell I think is a really great player and deserves to succeed.

Ujiri did a great job of rebuilding on the fly. He saw his team had stalled out, so he changed up enough things to give the team new life without nuking the whole thing.

Chicago seems to be trying to do a similar thing by changing coaches, but as I've said before I think that roster needs to be overhauled in the next year or so.

Bobcats look like they might actually have a style of play now. When they play the 'ivory towers' lineup they will literally just pick and pop forever. I saw one offense where they did it 5 times in 24 seconds

Very big blow for Charlotte. Their backup SF right now is PJ Hairston, and they also have Marvin Williams who I'm sure will see some time there now.

Nic Batum was slotted in as their starting SG this season, but since he played SF in Portland, I'm sure he'll move up and play the SF. Only issue with that is that then they are pretty weak at the SG (Lamb, Daniels, Harrison).

Was anyone expecting anything from Charlotte anyways?

My East tiers right now:

Tier 1 (True contenders)
Cleveland

Tier 2 (Solid teams but have holes that keep them from contending for titles)
Toronto
Chicago
Washington
Atlanta
Miami

Tier 3 (Should be lock for playoffs but still growing as a team)
Milwaukee
Boston

Tier 4 (Could sneak into playoffs if things go right)
Indiana
Detroit
Charlotte
Brooklyn

Tier 5 (a long way off)
Orlando
New York
Philly

Atlanta and Miami are the most likely, in my opinion, to fall out of the playoff hunt from that group as they have been prone to the injury bug in recent years. I could see any of tier 4 sneaking into those spots, but I wouldn't expect any of them to make much noise.

Heard today that Jalen Rose thinks the Cavs are the 5th best team in the NBA behind teams like Clippers and Thunder.

Can't agree with that at all.

He mad that Love didn't go to the Lakers, as he screamed to us for over a year.

Eh, they very well may end up with the 5th best record, if not worse. And honestly, the COULD be the 5th best team but it doesn't matter. They just have to be the best team in the East.
